Sweet Onion Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2003
This was wonderful!! Not for everyone though. I had a lot of people who were kind of afraid to try it but those who did absolutely raved about it. It needs to sit a while before cutting for the best results.

Southern Living Magazine's King Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2006
This was my first attempt at a king cake. I took it to a party and everyone loved it. Very good presentation. The dough is very easy to work with and I plan to use it for cinnamon rolls.

Boudreaux's Zydeco Stomp Gumbo

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2006
I liked this about four stars worth but I'm giving it five because I took it to a party where it got rave reviews. I made it just a little too spicy for me. I cooked the roux for over an hour before it got a nice dark brown. Patience is key. Also, I made changes based on what I had on hand...no shrimp, extra chicken, some leftover ham, those little smoked sausage wienies and crushed red pepper instead of fresh. It is a wonderful recipe for using what is available!

Chocolate Kiss Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2006
I liked this a lot but my daughter really loved it. No small praise because she is beyond picky...into ridiculous...and very seldom tries new things. I hassled her until she tried it. Now it's her birthday and I'm making it again by request!

Black Walnut Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2006
This cake is simply outstanding. I put in a full cup of chopped black walnuts (because I love them) and added a simple maple flavored glaze while it was still warm. Even if you don't like black walnuts, the basic recipe is still a winner. Unbelievably tender crumb, slightly crispy crust...it's just what I like in a pound cake. I will make this again and again, experimenting with different flavors.

Jam Filled Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2005
Excellent cookie!! As a bonus, it is easy to make as well. Very close to a holiday cookie my Aunt Vi used to make but without the rolling she did. Thanks so much for sharing!

Wonderful Yogurt Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2005
I've made this many times and I just love it. I use extra yogurt but that's the only change....I just add two containers and use a premimum brand. I love the blackberry especially. It's not too sweet and needs no icing...a real winner in my book!!

Cinnamon Bread Delight

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2006
Awesome recipe! Turned out great and a big hit with most. I might reduce the cinnamon by maybe a half teaspoon because it was a little too spicy for some.

Raspberry Sour Cream Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2005
Fantastic pie! The tartness of the raspberries goes so well with the creamy base. I just tried this recipe with cranberries and it rocks. I subbed pecans for the walnuts in the topping and I think next time I might use a pecan crust as well. I will be serving this at Thanksgiving for a new twist.

Chewy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: May 10, 2005
I used this for fruit pizza so I didn't make cookies but nonetheless, it was a great recipe. I will be using it from now on for sugar cookies. The dough was a little sticky for rolling out but a little extra flour solved that.

Honey Bun Cake I

Very sweet but very, very good. I think I'll try it in a bundt pan next time.

Irish Cream Bundt Cake

Reviewed: May 5, 2005
This is just fantasic. I leave the cake in the pan and pour the glaze over it while still hot. Let it cool a bit, then invert directly to a plate or cake pan. It's easier and less messy.

Baklava

Reviewed: May 5, 2005
Excellent and easy recipe. I did think that the sauce was a little too much (volume) but the longer it sat, the better (and less messy) it got. I think this may have been my fault because I didn't boil it quite long enough. Warning: this stuff is too good to have around when you are on a diet!!

Mexican Wedding Cake

Reviewed: May 16, 2005
Oh my, what a winner! This is simple and really good, the best combination for a recipe! Excellent choice for novice bakers. I used walnuts and put them in the cake batter, along with some coconut. I added even more coconut to the sauce (you can't really call it frosting), as well.

Christmas Gift Loaf

Very good! The batter is thick and it helps to smooth out the top well. I didn't bother with the icing, it is delicous without!

Excellent chili recipe. Best I've ever made by far and I was fairly impressed with my own recipe before making this. My husband RAVED and that is very unusual.

Crisp Pickled Green Beans

I really like these. Easier to keep crisp than cukes. I trimmed them in bite size pieces because I thought that would be easier to pack in jars.
