Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2014
These cookies are amazing. I prefer to make these with all butter instead of butter and shortening. As long as I adequately chill the dough, they don't turn out flat. Really delicious. Make them, you won't be sorry.

Deep Fried Dill Pickles

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2013
Word of caution, this recipe produces an extreme amount of waste from the batter ingredients. You could at least half the wet and dry mixes and still have more than enough to make the entire 32 oz jar of pickles. Definitely use less and don't waste! That being said, I really liked this recipe. Fried pickles are one of my guilty pleasures when eating out. So I went out in search of a recipe to make them at home so I could enjoy them whenever I want. This made a really good crispy coating that doesn't just peel or fall off. Delicious!

Maria's Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
This recipe makes some DELICIOUS rice. I dont like to change recipes the first time I make them (otherwise how are you giving a fair review?) so I didnt and it was great. Now I make it with only 1/4 cup of butter which turns out just as yummy. And sometimes when I want this with a quick meal, I will substitute instant brown rice and it cuts the cook time in half!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
These are great cookies! I made them exactly as the recipe is written but used mint baking chips for a holiday cookie. Mine did turn out a bit flat, but the texture was fine. My husband and son are gobbling them up. This recipe did however make much more than the yield stated. It made 4 dozen for me, and I was making much larger than tsp sized drops. Something to consider before you go and double it.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2012
This apple crisp is absolutely DELICIOUS!! I knew that I didn't have the full amount of apples that the recipe called for so I only used 1/4 cup of water, but made the full amount of topping. OH. MY. GOODNESS. I ate so much Im going to be sick. This is SO good.

Brownie Crackles

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2012
I gave this recipe 4 stars because as written, I dont feel like it works. Ive made this recipe several times now. Both as written, and also with adding extra flour as other reviewers suggested. I dont double the flour like many other reviewers do, but I do add at least 50% more. I made a batch of these today and realized I had bought the wrong size mix (18.3 instead of 19.8) but went ahead and mixed the ingredients as stated in the original recipe and then added about 1/2 cup more flour. It wont be thick like regular cookie dough, but dont panic, you will be able to work with the dough. I spoon balls of dough into a bowl of powdered sugar and scoop sugar on top and around the balls. Once its coated in the sugar you can pick it up with your fingers (although you have to be careful as the doughs not horribly thick remember). Bake them towards the lower end of the time (8-9 mins) and then let them finish cooking/setting on the pan for a minute or two before removing them to cool. This makes them perfect. Chewy on the outside, soft on the inside. These are also fabulous either with or without chocolate chips. Delicious cookies!!

Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2012
I too think this is a good base recipe. I used more chicken and a full packet of seasoning. I also upped (at least doubled) the salsa, and didnt drain the corn. I didnt feel like turning on the oven since its summer, so I crushed the chips and topped with cheese and just put a lid on until the cheese was melted. It was quite tasty!

Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 30, 2012
Just made this for the first time. I added peas and carrots and made it as a dinner. I served it warm. Man was it tasty!! I didnt change a single thing about the recipe and was very pleasantly surprised. Even my 2 year old gobbled it right up! I see lots of reviewers say that its yummy cold too. Im looking forward to finding out for myself tomorrow. Yum-O!

Texas Ranch Potato Salad

Reviewed: May 28, 2012
Made this for the first time today and it was really delicious! I did lighten it up a bit by using 1 cup mayo and 1 cup sour cream. Even my "I hate potato salad" husband ate two helpings. I felt like it was lacking a little something, and that something was dill. I added just a hit to my personal helping and then upon seeing how delicious it was added it to the whole bowl. Everyone agreed the dill took this over the top! I didnt measure, just added to taste. I strongly recommend it. Yummy!

Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
This recipe is quite tasty. It has become one of my familys favorite "breakfast for dinner" recipes. Im not really sure why reviewers are complaining about its dryness from the eggs. The recipe calls for jumbo sized eggs. The size of the eggs makes a difference. If you use the jumbo eggs like the recipe states then its perfectly fine. But you will not get the same result with smaller eggs. I dont understand why people expect it. But this is very good and my family will continue to love this recipe as I will keep making it over and over. :o)

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
This is a delicious recipe! I made it exactly as written except I added a beef bouillon cube and it was a huge hit in my house. Even my picky husband who hates all things onion, and is not a fan of cream of mushroom soup thought this was delicious. I definitely understand some of the reviews that this recipe made an over abundance of gravy, but if youre feeding enough people, a big pot of mashed potatoes can handle that. Delish! I will be making this again for sure!

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2011
So the first time I made this I "slow cooker"-ized it. I also changed the seasonings because I didnt have a box of the rice. It was good, and I knew it would be worth making again. This time I made it EXACTLY as per the recipe, the only exception being I used whole milk instead of cream and I added a shredded carrot. Holy cow it is so much better this way! My 2 year old is gobbling it up as I am typing this. This soup is soooooo creamy, delicious, and incredibly easy to make. This will become one of our winter favorites for sure. Make this and do NOT deviate from the recipe. You will NOT be sorry. P.S. My 2 year old just said "Mommy more?" Yep...if that doesnt say winner I dont know what does.

Campbell's® Cheesy Chicken and Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
This is a good base recipe, but definitely needs some modifications to be better, otherwise its rather bland. I use 2 cans of cream of chicken soup and 1 can chicken broth for the liquid, and a full cup of rice. I also cut the chicken into chunks for easier dishing. I use garlic, onion, and other various herbs for seasoning to my taste. I also find that you need to cook this for longer than the recipe says. Mine spends closer to an hour in the oven. With my changes, my family would rate this 5 stars. But since Im rating this recipe, not my own I give it a 3.

Creamy Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
This is my most favorite mac n cheese recipe ever! Ive looked all over the internet for a mac n cheese recipe that didnt require Velveeta, and this recipe is definitely the best Ive found! I have made it so many times and its always a big hit! I make this recipe exactly as is only minus the Dijon, just because its a personal preference. So delicious. If you love super cheesy mac n cheese, this is the recipe for you! YUM! :o)

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2011
OMG DELICIOUS!!! The only thing I did differently was use the whole package of cream cheese and i think my jar of alfredo may have been larger than 10 oz. Either way this tastes exactly like what you would order at one of the chain restaurants. So good. This didnt even last a day in my house!
