About this Cook
Getting ready for the good life of retirement, and hopefully able to enjoy some of my favorite outdoor cooking. I was raised in the south, and my Grandparents had a big impact on me. My Grandfather taught me how to hunt, fish, and garden. My Grandmother believed in equal opportunity, she felt that her grandsons should be taught how to cook and clean as well as her grandaughters. I thank her for that.
My favorite things to cook
I (like most guys) love grilling steaks, ribs, just about any meat, fish or veggies. I enjoy experimenting with different marinades, and developing my own sauces for Bar-B-Ques. I enjoy cooking out doors more than inside...... But I am trying to learn more on pies and desserts. I am also into finding old southern recipe's for puddings & Pies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I enjoy any Holidays and preping the meat to be cooked. I especially enjoy smoking or slow grilling whole hams or any foul.
My cooking tragedies
The only tragedie that I can think of is...."I wished I had asked my Grandmother more questions on the ways she used to fix some of her dishes.

Microwave Baked Potato
Many options to the process and additions to the good old baked spud. I microwave each spud for 4.50 mins, then let sit for two mins wrapped in alumineum foil.

The best wintertime meals need a long, slow simmer while you're doing something else.
