Red Velvet Cake IV

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2003
This cake is definate better if you practice it a couple of times. I followed previous advice and added the coco powder seperately from the food colouring and added icing sugar to the frosting (which is an acquired taste, I agree) My only other word of caution would be to make sure that the frosting has cooled down enough before you assemble the finished cake, otherwise you end up with an interestingly lopsided affair! Good conversation piece though.

Rhubarb Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2003
Very moist and tasty cake. As suggested I used less sugar and more rhubarb. I also substituted the zest of an orange for the vanilla and ginger instead of cinnamon, which worked really well. A definate keeper.

Chocolate Poke Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2003
Living in England I had to convert this recipe to metric. I think this may have been the reason why I seemed to end up with tons of caramel sauce, (which was absolutley gorgeous). It seemed to settle in a large pool in the middle of the cake. That being said the cake did go down extremely well with my work collegue. I will make this recipe again, only this time with less sauce!

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2002
Absolutely gorgeous. By accident, and because I didn't read the instructions well enough, added all the raspberry sauce to the cheesecake mix. It turned out to brilliantly, very enthusiastically recieved by all. I would recommend it to anyone.

Lemon Ice I

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2002
Very refreshing. Seeing other reviews before making, I used less sugar than suggested. I was glad i did, even with less sugar it was a little too sweet. I served mine with fresh raspberries, a lovely light dessert to round off a meal.

Rhubarb Crunch

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2002
Really easy to make. The layer of rhubarb seemed a little thin, but it worked out just right. I added extra flour to the topping which made it crumble better and also a little ground cinnamon, which gave it a warm flavour. My work collegues definately approved! Will make again

Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2002
Cannot rate for children, but i'm sure they will love it. The cake took slightly longer than the recipie said to cook. It was also alot nicer when it was cold as was the sauce. I also think the sauce would have tasted better made with cream instead of evaporated milk

Battenburg Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2002
Have made this cake three times now, each time it was a great success. I found it easier to roll the marzipan out between two sheets of glad wrap, which also helped when covering the sponge. I also added almond essence instead of vanilla. Will definately make again.
