Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

It was good, but not great. Tasted just like every other carrot cake you eat. I was hoping that the pineapple and coconut would make it more unique, but it wasn't. I'm not saying it was bad, in fact I liked the coconut in it a lot! But if you're looking to impress, this probably won't do.

Apple Honey Bundt Cake

I would love to give this recipe a higher review, but I just couldn't yet. When I made the batter, it looked great and tasted great. But after baking it for over 65 minutes (I had been testing it for doneness, and the toothpick came out clean), after we cut into it, I realized that the entire center was underbaked. I'm not sure how I couldn't have spotted this, given that the toothpick came out perfectly clean and I baked it for more than enough time. Now, granted I baked it in my beehive cake pan. But still, I'm not sure what happened. (By the way, the cake that was done was VERY dense and moist. I substituted applesauce for the oil, and I think that's part of the reason.)

Sea Foam Frosting

Good, simple recipe. If your frosting isn't whipping up, it probably means your bowl has a trace of fat in it or you got some of the egg yolk in it. Fortunately, this wasn't the case for me, and it whipped up nicely. The only thing was that I think there's almost too much vanilla in this. I might reduce it to 3/4 tsp and see if it's better that way.

Sandy's Chocolate Cake

This review is just based on the cake: Very good! The brown sugar must add something to the cake because it has a wonderful flavor. I'm usually unimpressed my most chocolate cake recipes, because they just don't taste right very often, but this one has definitely got the right idea! Next time I may add more cocoa to get an even deeper chocolate flavor, but I really liked the taste of this cake. Will definitely try again!

Creamy Vanilla Pudding

So delicious! I didn't bother with tempering the eggs, I just followed the instructions exactly. I had to cook mine for a bit longer to get it to thicken up, but it did thicken eventually quite well. The flavor is absolutely delicious! This is one of the best vanilla puddings I have ever tasted! I will definitely make this again!

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

I think the oven temp is too high. The outside of mine burnt after only having them in for the minimum of 18 minutes. And the flavor was just "eh", nothing special or anything.

Easy Key Lime Pie I

Bitter without much lime flavor. I had to add a lot of grated lime zest to get more flavor, but I should have added some sugar too, because this wasn't sweet enough. It also didn't set very well. I baked it for twice as long as it called for and it was still a bit runny. Since I had 5 extra egg whites after making it, I decided to make a meringue by beating the egg whites with 1 1/3 tsp cream of tartar, 1/2 tsp vanilla, and half cup of sugar. Then I put the meringue on top of the pie as soon as it came out of the oven, then baked at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. The meringue adds a lot!

Tastes just like raisin bread, only with sort of the texture of an english muffin. I added about 1/4 tsp of cloves. Pretty good!

Original Chex® Party Mix

Instead of using seasoned salt, I substitute celery salt. Also use garlic salt instead of garlic powder, and add about 3/4 Tablespoon vinegar.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Flavor was good, but mine didn't set very well. It wasn't very dense, it was kind of mushy. I didn't have any trouble with cracking or anything. I used a water bath when I baked it. Also reduced the sugar to 1 1/4 cups. Didn't taste quite like the cheesecake I had in New York, but it was good nonetheless.

Libby's® Famous Pumpkin Pie

I've made this recipe for a couple of years now. While the original is good, I prefer to add more sugar and spices to give it more flavor. I also add a bit off allspice and nutmeg. Turns out great!

Buttery Corn Bread

I reduce the sugar to 2/3 of a cup, and I also reduce the flour to 2 cups and increase the cornmeal to 1 and 1/3 cups. Next time I would also maybe like to try substituting buttermilk for the milk. Good recipe though, I do like it! It's very moist!

Caramel Apple Bars II

This is not a good recipe at all. For start, you need WAY more apples than called for. Secondly, the caramel is extremely difficult to spread over the apples. And finally, it didn't even taste that good at all. I wouldn't recommend this recipe to anyone. It was not to my liking.
