Megan's Granola

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2011
yummy. only had almonds and pecans so used 3/4 cup of each. husband thought needed tiny more sweetness but I disagree. baked for 50 minutes at 250 degrees and crisped up nicely after it was out of the oven. I might experiment with applesauce instead of oil next time but for now it's delicious! 2nd time-substitued 1/2 oil for applesauce- could even do more! used walnuts, pecans, sunflower seeds and almonds. sprinkled flax seed(ground) on top. delicious. oh and use old fashioned oats!

we enjoyed it! i used homemade ranch. i think it could use less rosemary or even w/o it it would be yummy. thanks.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2011
I just think ghiradelli brownies out of the box are better than this cake. It was very good but in my opinion not worth the extra work (it is not a lot of work but you can have better tasting dessert that is even less work!). I think I might experiment with coconut or peanut butter because it is an interesting start. thanks! I am giving 5 stars only for the opportunity to make it with different combinations!

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: May 21, 2011
these were good for company because you can make the day before. I used small potatoes which was great (one per person- took a little off the top) if you use large cut in 1/2 and use both sides. added cream cheese in place of some sour cream.

I was craving something fresh. this was delicious. Enough for 6 adults and a few kids. Next time I'll use more avacado and less corn. didn't use cilantro but I bet it would be good.

Horseradish Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2011
my sis-in-law made this and I loved it. It didn't have a lot of kick so you can always add more horseradish according to your liking. It was a very nice consistency and I can't wait to make steak to have this again!

Mushroom Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2011
just okay. I like the general idea and would use something like this again. I used crimini mushrooms which I didn't care for and made the rice like usual with a 1:1 ratio. this rice might need more water tha that to make it creamier. thanks.

Mad Hatter Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2011
you definitely do not need all that butter. I used 1/2 and probably could have cut down more (don't need any butter for the nuts but not sure about the noodles. next time I might do them separate to save on calories). I used evoo in dressing and also used 1/2 of that. I don't think you need that much sugar either. I would even add more broccoli next time - cut it up really small. it was yummy. used oriental raman noodles and it was good- chicken would be good too I think. thanks!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2011
used 5 1/4 lbs pork shoulder. trimmed as much fat as I could off of it. used 2-20 oz. bottles of root beer to cover the roast. drained off liquid in strainer after about 7 hours and shred it then added 1-18 oz. bottle sweet baby rays hickory bbq and 18 oz. regular sweet baby rays. buttered the rolls and put in the oven. Every one loved it. you could take some pork out before adding bbq sauce and reserve it for tacos for the week. my 5 lb. shoulder could have made at least 10-12 sandwhiches. fed 6 adults with lots of leftovers. served with chips and coleslaw.

Roquefort Pear Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2011
awesome! LOVED the pecans. I used 2 romaine heads and doubled the dressing but didn't use it all. I only used 2 pears- 3 would have been way too many. So good. I served the blue cheese on the side and gave the option of feta as well. thanks!

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
everyone loved it. used a costco chicken shredded (about 4 cups- no wings or legs). too much chicken. next time stick to 3 cups. used about 1/4 of the jalapenos and perfect (served rest on side). served w/ crushed tortilla chips too- so yummy. left cheese on side and sour cream (added lots of sour cream to kids bowls to cool down the kick). cooked on stove brought to a boil then put it in slow cooker on low for an hour and then kept it warm so it was ready when we got home. i pureed 1 of the cans of navy beans but i bet 1 1/2 would be better- also used the blender/puree thing in the entire crock pot to make a tiny bit thicker. depends on your preference. served w/ bread and hot dogs. yummy. enough for 6 adults or 4-5 adults and a few kids.

this tasted okay. ribs were tender. I like more saucy ribs though. I think the cooking method is the key- not the ingredients.
