I am just a stay-at-home mom trying to learn how to prepare a good variety of healthy/kid friendly meals that won't take too much of my time away from my family.
My favorite things to cook
I don't really have a favorite. I guess I like to cook best when I know it is a meal my family is going to love!
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was little, my sister and I used to sleep over at my Grammy's house some weekends. Every morning after a sleep-over, my Grammy would set us up on her counter and let us help her prepare french toast for breakfast. It is a very fond memory I will always cherish and hope to share with my son as he get older.
My cooking triumphs
I really just started, but there is one shining moment for me thus far. I have never prepared chicken noodle soup that wasn't from a can, but I found a turkey on sale and had some left over veggies. So, I cooked the turkey in the crock pot, cut it up, and added some veggies, cooked whole grain noodles, broth, and seasoning and made my own turkey noodle soup recipe. It was shockingly delicious and my family loved it!
My cooking tragedies
Gosh, there are so many! I can never get cookies right. I always either under or over cook them. My pork chops are almost always dry. Once, while pregnant with my son, I was babysitting and cooking lunch. I put easy mac in the microwave and blew it up! As it turns out, I forgot to add the water and was microwaving dry noodles!
