Easy to make, made exactly as written. I mashed and threw into my blender for a puree. Yum yum!

Tomato Orzo Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2014
I really enjoyed this soup! I made a couple of small variations, like using organic vegetable broth, and same with the tomato soup; didn't put in peas (personal choice). Makes yummy leftovers, I love orzo! It was popular for the family for lunches! Will be making this again, thank you!

Taco Seasoning I

Oh this recipe was perfect! I put it into a container and it keeps really well. Not to mention saves me from buying those terrible pre-mix packets! Thanks! :)

Classic Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2014
This is a great recipe to play with. I had made this once as is, with the exception of halving the sugar and that I used brown rice pasta. It got a lot of compliments, keeps well. When I made it again I used a special brown rice rotini pasta, added some paprika and it turned out even nicer. Lots of things you could do to modify it to suit your wants :)

Fresh Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2014
Oh my goodness, this was a great salad! I used a small onion since after some recommendations that a large onion would be too much, kept raisins out since we're not raisin eaters but instead put in halved grapes. I used half a cup of mayo, and half cup of sour cream since it softened it up a bit, and used apple cider vinegar instead of white wine vinegar. I made it a few hours before I intended on eating it and it was a hit! I'm making it again for some camping trips coming up!

Chocolate Cupcakes

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2013
Made this with a friend for Halloween, and they were perfectly moist and soft... and yeah. These are my favourite chocolate cupcakes I've come across. We received so much praise from friends and co-workers about them. I made a homemade butter cream icing to go on top, and it was divine with it. I'm making them again, that's for sure.

Pumpkin Waffles with Apple Cider Syrup

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2013
I really liked this recipe, and my husband and his friend really enjoyed it too. It really was delicious, followed the recipe exactly. I think my only flaw I found was that I used fresh pureed pumpkin, which is a lot more "liquidy" than regular canned pumpkin. Although the consistency was right, I found that the waffles were kind of flat (didn't puff up quite like waffles should!). Anyway, they're still amazing and I'll make them again, but just those using fresh pumpkin take head on how it turns out, that's all. :) Enjoy!

Homemade Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2013
I made this a couple times for Thanksgiving, and it was delicious and very popular! I always make my own crust but it's nice that this recipe encourages it. I also pureed my pumpkin after roasting it, but anyway. It wasn't as thick as your average pumpkin pie but it was still delicious - and I'll definitely be making this again.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: May 13, 2013
Great recipe! I loved the mixture of flavours and textures... certainly different than the average sloppy joe. I did add about a cup of Ragu sauce in it since our family likes it a little more sloppy - and we all absolutely loved it with this extra addition. Delicious! :)

Turkey Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2013
Made it exactly as written, make them into wraps using Ezekiel wraps, with a little lettuce. They weren't bad, worth trying for sure. I didn't want to wait over night but I do have some left over to try like that. Right away they're pretty decent.. I enjoyed it, not sure if I want to make them again. But they're fast to whip up and not bad in a pinch. Worth trying out!

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2013
I'm the kind of person who doesn't like spinach, but this was incredibly delicious. Served it at a family dinner and everyone loved it. If this is a way to get the greens in me - then I'm all for it! And so easy to make too!

Tangy Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2013
I really enjoyed this ham recipe. I'm not going to lie, I wasn't a huge fan of the glaze and it could have been the orange zest that did it. Next time I'll go a little easier on it and I didn't have the cloves (I don't like those anyway, so that's fine). I put pineapple rings on it which gave it a nice flavour. Regardless, the boys loved it and want me to make it again, so that's a good sign :) Happy cooking!

Oven-Roasted Asparagus

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2013
This was an amazing dish! I didn't cook it as long as I should have but it was still really good. I liked the garlic touch to it (considering hubby doesn't like asparagus but he loves garlic...and he loved it!) so I'm planning on making this again :)

Chef John's Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2013
Quite a nice variation on Sloppy joes! I always love Chef John's stuff and I learned a new thing (about how to get it so it's crumbly). I followed it exactly, but mine turned out soupy which was disappointing and I guess I didn't leave it long enough (even though it was there for about 35 min. pretty much unchanged). Ah well, the flavours were nice, and after I drained a bit of the juices it was quite yummy. I'll try it again sometime to see if I can get the better consistency. Lovely recipe though!

Grandma's Baking Powder Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2013
It's really hard to find a good biscuit recipe - and lo-and-behold, found one! Oh boy, it was fluffy and absolutely delicious. It's great on it's own or with something (I made this initially to go with Chicken and onions pan fried in honey). Husband loved it a lot, and I'm definitely going to make this again. I did leave out the cream of tartar, and substituted the shortening for butter. I also did the ball method instead of the cut-out. Came out perfect. Enjoy!!

Turkey Pot Pie I

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2013
I've got a few things about this recipe. 1 - This is, by far, the best recipe I've come across, and it came out perfectly. 2- Made your own crust. I never buy store bought crusts, mine came out so flaky and just added so much more to the recipe. (for a double pastry recipe, 2 cups of flour, 1 tsp of salt, 2/3 cup shortening and 6-7 tbsp of water) 3- I do have a problem with the times listed on this recipe. It only takes about 20 minutes after you have all the vegetables prepped. If you really want to include all of it, I spent about almost an hour doing everything. I expected it since I've cut vegetables before (and making my own pastry), but it's a deceiving thought. 4- Also, a pot might be easier than a pan. I was smart and used a deep frying pan, but it was tough stirring it around. 5- Add more turkey, and use small potatoes. I used 3 baking potatoes, so they were huge and I barely tasted the turkey. Next time I'll either add more turkey or add more turkey and buy smaller potatoes. 6- I recommend this recipe definitely. Next to making my own crust I followed it exactly and my husband and I devoured our bowls. Happy cooking!!

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
Very easy to make, and with very little effort this fudge turned out really well! I followed some of the other reviews and used about 1/8 cup (about half) of butter, and I switched the milk chocolate with the semi-sweet. It was really delicious. It's not fudge as I knew it, but it was still really good, a little chewy which was fine and wasn't over powering-ly sweet. I served it at a family dinner, very popular!! :) Definitely give it a try!

My Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2012
I made a few modifications to this recipe, however, I find that the recipe is fairly bland in flavouring (I even added more and other spices too). The recipe is very good, but I suggest those who want to try it to be creative with it (I find it makes for a great base). I made it in the slow cooker for about 5 hours, it tasted good, my husb says that it's "too tomatoe-y" haha. I meant to add a jalapeno pepper in it... should be good then. ;)

Prosciutto-Wrapped Cherry-Stuffed Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2012
Took some time to make (but great to make ahead of time), but it was so juicy and tender and holy it was good. I don't even like cherries, but it was still delicious. Made it for Valentines Day, thanks to Chef John's video commentary hahaha.

Spooky Witches' Fingers

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2012
Ahhh these were so awesome to make and they were delicious! It was actually probably one of the best almost shortbread recipe I've come across and it cooked perfectly. I added green dye to it which gave it a nice green hue, with the red gel. Very easy to shape and the knuckles were a super creepy and awesome effect. Brought it to a Halloween party (makes about 60) and they went fast and people loved it. Enjoy!
