Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2013
These are so good! I was planning on making them for Thanksgiving. Then out of the blue I decided to make potatoes-- I never make potatoes! So I tested out this recipe before the big day. I used 1/2 of the potatoes, 1/2 of the other ingredients, and broth instead of boullion cubes. Somehow my potato masher had disappeared (probably ran away to someone who would actually use it) so I whipped the ingredients together with my mixer. Everyone raved! I will have to make these frequently! And get a new masher. Can't wait until Thanksgiving!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2013
Whenever a recipe says"best" or "world's greatest", I just have to try it, because, what if it's true? In this case, it is the "Best Chocolate Chip Cookies". Fresh from the oven, or later on,(don't wait too long if you have kids) these are not only the best, but the final word in chocolate chip cookies. I followed this recipe to the letter, and as you may have noticed, I was not disappointed. Thank-you, Dora!

Bread Machine Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2013
This is the closest I've come to the perfect, thin, pizzeria style crust I love ! The first time I made this, I assembled all of the ingredients only to find that my bread machine no longer worked. So I made it the old fashioned way and it came out ok. When I bought a new machine, this was the first recipe I tried. I subbed water for the flat beer, because I had none, and spread the dough out on a standard cookie sheet, used a pizza sauce recipe from this site. (the recipe makes enough for two pizzas, and freezes well) We loaded it up with toppings, and let it bake. MMM-MMM, my house smelled so good. Everyone loved it, and my husband commented that this was my best crust yet! Thanks, Kim. This is a keeper!

Ratatouille Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2013
I was so happy to find this recipe! My garden had runneth over and this recipe incorporates all the vegetables that I needed to use up. Reading the reviews, one thing kept coming up- that it tasted even better the next day. So, I made the veggie mix the day before, and assembled it the next day. It was awesome! The only thing I changed was to add fresh basil and parsley. Dried herbs just can't compare, and I mean, you have all these wonderful fresh vegetables, why not get some fresh herbs? I had more veggies than I needed to cover the ravioli, so I put the rest in the freezer. Not sure how they'll be, but I'll find out in the dead of the winter when I thaw it out to be reminded of my summer garden!

Oven Fried Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2013
This is the BEST! No mess, no fuss. I had 5 chicken leg quarters, so that's what I used. I separated the thigh from the drum, and had to double the other ingredients to cover all that chicken. The smell when it was baking was heavenly! It came out nice and moist and tasted great. The only party pooper was my teenage son, who thinks fried chicken should come from a frying pan, or better yet from KFC. But everyone else loved it, and if I had to do it again, I gladly would!

Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2013
This recipe was visually appealing. Taste-wise, not so appealing. The mix of raw crunchy vegetables, combined with the soft mango, just didn't go together. The mango and cilantro were both overpowering, making me wonder why the other ingredients were necessary. I would have loved to taste the great assortment of flavors, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. It was edible, but I would not make this again.

Sweet and Sour Chicken I

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2013
Loved it- and so easy to make something fantastic! My family raves about this dish and says we don't have to get delivery from the Chinese place. I tripled the pineapple and pineapple juice and doubled the rest of the sauce ingredients. I put the pineapple directly in the sauce. This gives more sauce to put over rice or noodles. This is just too-oo good! Thanks for sharing this recipe, Lindahu

Absolutely Excellent Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2013
I'm so glad that I didn't read reviews before making these cookies, otherwise I might not have made them. I just had one, still warm, and it was good! Very soft and moist, with a little "chew" to it. I followed this recipe exactly, and the next time I make it the only thing I will change is to halve it. Yes, you can have too much of a good thing! Thank you, Marylou!

Herbed Chicken Nuggets

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
These were just ok. The recipe calls for four chicken breasts. I think she means halves. I used halves and there still wasn't enough coating and I had to make more. Next time I'll stick to Shake-n-Bake.

Baked French Fries I

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
These were so good! I did wedges like the recipe called for, so the temp and time were perfect. My fussy son gobbled them down! Oh, and line the pan with parchment paper for easy, breezy cleanup!

Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
These were flavorful and moist. This was my first turkey burger and I kept expecting the consistency of a hamburger, but then got used to its unique taste. They were a little on the soft side but not mushy. I would try these again.

Oven Roasted Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
I made the sauce as written, but halved the chicken. There was enough sauce to spoon over rice. I think the reason it takes an hour to bake is because of opening the oven every ten minutes to baste. I don't have the time for that. The end result was good...flavorful and juicy chicken. We loved it!!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2013
These were soo-ooo yummy, and the breadmaker made them simple to create. We don't have a Cinnabon store near us anymore, so this was a delightful weekend treat! I think that the icing is even better than the original, and as the cook, I got to lick the beaters! Thanks for sharing this little gem, Marsha!

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2012
Nightmare on Gingerbread Lane! Be very afraid of thid recipe. First came the disjointed writing of this recipe. Ingredients are usually listed in the order that they are used in the directions. Add salt. How much? Where is it? So I got it all mixed together, and it didn't seem very dough-like. Oh, refrigerate for...24 hours??!! Never heard of dough needing that much time. I checked it at the stated time and it was more like a very thick batter. Back to the fridge for another day. I reviewed the recipe to make sure I didn't forget something, but I remembered everything, and when I checked the dishwasher, all the appropriate measuring cups were there. So after another 24 hrs. I tried to bake them. No amount of flour or parchment paper would help. After spending a time-out inthe freezer-not me, the dough, I managed to get a tray ready. Within 5 min., they were amorphous blobs, definitely not decoration worthy. I just threw them away, cookies, dough, and all. Needless to say, this recipe will be removed from my box.

Christmas Stars

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2012
Beautiful cookies. Be ready for a lot of frustration. 3 hours refrigeration of the dough isn't enough. freezing it wouldn't be enough. It is gooey, sticky, and difficult to deal with, even with use of parchment paper. I love the concept of these cookies, but will be using a different sugar cookie recipe for the base.

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2012
This recipe was wonderfully easy and tasty. Make life easier and neater. Don't flour the rolling surface or rolling pin. Roll between two sheets of parchment paper. Remove top sheet, remove dough scraps. Place bottom sheet, with cookies, directly on cookie sheet. No need to grease pan. When baked, put sheet of cookies on cooling rack. No broken arms or legs falling through the cracks!

The Best Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2012
I made this last night. My family usually hates meatloaf. They loved this--no leftovers. I used crackers instead of breadcrumbs, but along with adding the salt, I thought it was a little too salty. Next time I may try following the recipe as written! The steak sauce gave it just the right kick!
