My favorite things to cook
I love to bake and try new entrees. I've been baking since I was 11 years old. It's fun to try new recipes and find new family favorites. I test new entree recipes on my kids - they are very honest and great judges.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a family of great cooks who never measure anything. I'm often asking my mom to measure everything she is doing for one of her meals to share with me how to make it. Our holiday meals are traditional from past generations. I've adjusted them only slightly to begin new traditions for my children.
My cooking triumphs
Most of my cooking experiences are triumphs. I rarely sway from a recipe, however, most recently I made several changes to a vegetable soup recipe as I was cooking and it turned out fabulous.
My cooking tragedies
Most recently I made a 'caramel cake' from a Better Homes and Gardens magazine. I was so excited about this cake and looking forward to sharing it with my family at Christmas. It was aweful. I posted an update on BHG website to inform the recipe was flawed and learned that I wasn't the only one who experienced this 'tragedy'.

Fabulous Wet Burritos
My fiance liked it but we both agreed we would like more spice. We used double enchilada sauce omitting the tomato soup for more Mexican flavor. I couldn't get past the canned chili in the sauce so next time I'll work on a more Mexican red sauce. We put all the burritos under the broiler in a baking dish to melt the cheese. This is a good base recipe but based on your taste preferences may need modified to suit your family.

Hot Pepper Cheese Ball
I made this exactly as written and it was just okay. It didn't have much flavor to suit our liking. I'll make again and add additional items to give it more kick.

Slow Cooker Stuffing
Tasty traditional dressing. We freeze nice leftover breads throughout the year so our dressing includes white, wheat, grain, rye, etc. I also save plenty of turkey stock so we use that in place of chicken. Before serving we put ours in a foil pan under the broiler for several minutes to get a crusty top. Very good stuff!!
