Vanilla Cupcake

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2014
I did not care for this recipe. I followed the instructions exactly, and ended up with very dense, dry, flavorless cupcakes.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2014
This is fantastic!! Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I'm a firm believer that banana bread needs cinnamon!! Without it, it just seemed to be missing something. I sprinkled some cinnamon sugar on top and it was perfect :) I will definitely save this recipe, but next time I'll add the cinnamon in with the batter instead :) Thank you!!

Zu's Fried Apple Pies

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2014
These turned out fantastic! I did half white sugar & half brown sugar, like other reviewers I also added cinnamon to the dough, and sprinkled them with cinnamon sugar when they were finished. Quick and easy, with ingredients I always have on-hand! They were gone in minutes, and both my son & husband are asking when I'm going to make them again! Definitely a keeper!! Thank you so much!

Molasses Cookies VI

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2013
I love molasses cookies, and no matter how these turned out, I probably would've loved them regardless. My husband however, is a much tougher customer. I've tried probably 6 or 7 different recipes and he's always hated them... until this one!! I've made 3 batches in 3 days, 1st night I quartered the recipe to make 1 dozen (since I figured it'd just be my son & I eating them), 2nd night made half the recipe (they didn't last through the night), 3rd night, which is tonight, I made the full recipe and they're STILL already almost gone!!! My husband never devours cookies like this, so this is definitely a recipe to save! I followed everything exactly the first night, and they were great. 2nd & 3rd batches I added just a bit of vanilla, which was even better! Sprinkled with sugar fresh out of the oven, and they disappear almost instantly! I'll never use another molasses cookie recipe besides this one again! Thanks SO much!! :)

Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2013
This was great! Super easy to throw together, and very tasty! The flavor is a tad light, but that's not necessarily a bad thing... a little vanilla ice cream on top made it perfect. I used thawed frozen cherries in mine, and to my dismay found that I was short about 1/4 cup from the amount of fruit the recipe calls for (I also halved the recipe, next time I definitely need to make a bigger pan!!). However, it still baked great, kind of like a big, SUPER moist muffin. I do feel, as another reviewer suggested, this would be better with more fruit. I *was* short on the fruit, but it was only 1/4 C, and I feel like even if I'd had the full amount the recipe listed, it would still be more cakey than cobbler-ey. Regardless, it is very good, and I will definitely make this again! Thanks for sharing!!

Chicken Lasagna with White Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2013
Ok, I know everybody hates it when you review something that you didn't follow the recipe EXACTLY, but I had to put my 2 cents in... The first thing I noticed when I read this recipe: WHERE'S THE GARLIC?? Or any seasoning, for that matter?? This recipe was a great base for what I had on hand, but as-is, this seems like it would be way too bland, and I think a lot of other reviewers said the same. I sauteed some minced garlic (about 2 cloves) in olive oil, then cooked the chicken in the garlic/oil. Seasoned with onion powder, a bit of garlic salt, black pepper & italian seasoning blend, and I also added garlic powder, pepper, & italian seasoning to the cheese mixture (can't really give a measurement, we just add until it tastes right in our house ;P). Didn't have spinach, so I used broccoli instead, and upped the amount of mozzarella by probably another half cup. End result was OUTSTANDING!!! With modifications, or using just as a base recipe to alter to your own tastes, this is a 5 star starter recipe; quick, simple, and easy to make your own.

Delilah's Frosted Cut-Out Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2013
This review is just for the cookies, I've never been a big fan of the hard frosting, but the cookies were amazing!! Very firm, but still soft! They do puff up a bit, so if you're using a more intricate cookie cutter, you may lose some of the details, but this wasn't an issue for me since I used a basic star shaped cutout. These are wonderful, from now on this is my go-to sugar cookie recipe!!! Thank you for sharing!!

Shirred Potatoes and Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2013
I must have done something wrong... There's no way what I ended up with is what this recipe is supposed to make... I followed the recipe exactly, and ended up with some OK pork chops (decent texture, but VERY bland), and a thick potato-ey paste... tried to salvage it by adding some instant mashed potatoes & putting it under the broiler to crisp it up a bit, but there was no saving this. My 4 year old wouldn't touch it, and my husband suffered through it to spare my feelings, but told me later that I should probably NEVER make this again. Sorry, but I agree with my family, definitely not keeping this one...

Butter Cookies V

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2013
For years, I have said the only thing that could those butter cookies in the tin better, was if they were softer. I have FINALLY found exactly that!! These turned out amazing. Followed the recipe to a T, they sliced perfectly (after being rolled in wax paper and refrigerated, as directed), kept their shape, and they taste great!! Reviewers keep in mind, if you're looking for the exact same thing you find in the tin, you'll probably be disappointed. They are much softer, with a bit of a lighter flavor, but still wonderful! Definitely a keeper, thanks so much for helping me finally find what I've been looking for!!

Yummy Lemon Salmon Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2013
Oh my goodness... I don't think I have enough words to describe how wonderfully these turned out! The hubby thought it was great, and even my picky 3 year old son inhaled his before I could ask him what he thought of it LOL. The only changes I made was onion powder instead of the chopped onion(sadly I had no onions left to chop up for this) & I added a bit of garlic powder, maybe 1/2 tsp. This is definitely a recipe I will save and make over and over again. Thank you!!

Baking Powder Biscuits I

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2013
These came out pretty well... a *little* dry and bland, but they are a perfect match for a meal served with gravy, which is exactly what I needed them for! I don't know that I'd eat these on their own, but I'm definitely saving this recipe for the next time I make Chicken n' biscuits (:

Homemade Chicken Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2013
This was great! Very good for a base recipe, but I had to add some extra spices for more flavor. I added cooked, cubed chicken breast and served over mashed potatoes, with homemade biscuits on the side. Came out wonderful, and the whole family LOVED this gravy. Definitely saving this one (:

Jo-Ann's Power Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2013
These turned out AMAZING!!! I altered it just a bit... used 3/4 cup of applesauce like another user suggested & omitted the oil. I also only used raisins, about 6oz. Baked them in muffin tins for about 15 minutes, they came out super moist, like a dense little muffin. I've only had one, because my husband and son devoured the rest :P I will definitely be keeping this recipe, since my family is already bugging me about the next time I'll make them!! I think this is going to become a weekly thing in our house, thank you so much (:

Cinnamon Spice Drop Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2012
These were woooonderful! Only thing I'd change is if you prefer a more solid, crunchy cookie, you may want to bake them for few minutes longer. My first batch I took out at 10 minutes (I like more chewy cookies) but they were still very wet. Second batch I let go about 15 minutes and they were perfect. Still chewy, but solid! Thanks for this recipe, definitely a keeper!!

Crispy Mashed Potato Pancake

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2011
These are sooooo yummy! I changed it a little bit, & I think the recipe as is would be a little bland, but I added garlic powder, onion powder, salt & pepper, and a little parm cheese. Faaaaaantastic!! I'm making them right now & so far the second they hit the serving plate they're gone LOL!

This turned out great, AFTER refrigerating the dough for a while. Very soft and delicious, just need to chill the dough to make it more manageable.

Mini Pineapple Upside-Down Cakes

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2011
If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Fantastic! The second time I made these I did a few minor changes, like crushed pineapple instead of rings, white cake instead of yellow, & I baked with the cherry instead of adding it afterwards. Turned out amazing! They were gonein the blink of an eye! Definitely a keeper!
