Creamy Cranberry Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2012
This is the best cranberry salad there is. I actually prefer mine without the cream cheese layer. It's so cool and refreshing I thought why not have it in the summer. I bought several bags of cranberries when they were on sale during the holidays and froze them to use later. They last for months in the freezer with no preparation and believe me this salad is a welcome treat in the summer.

Hot Fudge Sundae Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2012
This recipe is similar to a recipe my mom used to make from an old Spry cookbook. It was called Easy Cocoa Pudding. The main difference is that the batter is mixed in a bowl and spread into the pan . The brown sugar and cocoa powder are mixed with boiling water and poured over the top. In my younger day before I was married with kids I ate a whole one by my self! It still remains one of my favorite desserts except that now I have to share!

Simply White Bread II

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2012
This is so easy and it makes a great loaf of bread. I like to add 3 to 4 Tbs. of powered buttermilk as others have suggested.

Orange Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2012
I've been making these for years. It's a nice twist to plain old buttered carrots when you don't have a lot of time. We always called them "sunshine carrots". So easy and they go with just about anything.

Muffin Morning Makers

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2011
If you really want it fast without dirtying pans etc. use the microwave. Just toast the muffins and while they are toasting put an egg in a small bowl, sramble it up and microwave for about a minute or so. Buy the microwave sausage patties and microwave them according to package directions. Lay a slice of cheese on the sausage and microwave until it melts. Assemble everything and you're good to go!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2011
This recipe is outstanding and so easy. I took a couple of JillyBean's tips and added salt & pepper, a bullion cube, dollop of sour cream and 1/2 pkg onion soup mix. Next time I'll use my smaller crock pot unless I'm doubling the recipe. It was cooked in less time using the big crock. I also added a splash of white zinfandel and some sauteed mushrooms. Smells divine while cooking!

Acorn Squash

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2011
Try substituting the brown sugar with maple syrup for a change. I usually put in a dab of butter and add about a tablespoon of real maple syrup or more. I also use a brush to cover the cut edges. So good but not overly sweet.

Parsley Red Potatoes

These are also great on the grill. Just wrap them in foil with the butter and parsley and set them to the side. They go with everything, easy and taste wonderful.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2011
This turned out really tasty. I added fresh mushrooms along with the soup and cream cheese. It seemed a little bland so I added some onion powder and white pepper. Served with noodles.

Fresh as a Daisy Spring Salad

Reviewed: May 29, 2011
This salad is a great change from the usual. The dressing is wonderful, loved the shallots. I didn't have any daisies but it was beautiful without them. i'll be making this a lot this summer.

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

These are the best potatoes in the world! I made them for a dinner I was having with friends and they loved them. You don't have to change a thing. Easy and so yummy, just allow enough time to cook and cool.

Bacon Ranch Pea Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2011
I've made several versions of pea salad but this one is outstanding. I guess it's the ranch dressing and bacon that makes the difference. I didn't change a thing except that I made it the night before and didn't precook the peas, just thawed them first. The flavors melded together wonderfully. I'll be making this a lot this summer!

Slow Cooked Corned Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
I made this last night and it was to die for. I didn't change a thing other than using a crock pot. I cooked it all day, started on high for a couple of hours and then turned to low later. It was so tender and moist, full of flavor. Our friends raved about it. I took another reviewers suggestion of putting coleslaw and swiss cheese out so everyone could build their own sandwich however they wanted. I also used sliced sour dough bread which I grilled. There was hardly anything left over. I'll never eat corned beef any other way now!

Tuna Noodle Casserole II

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
I thought this was a little dry. Next time I would add more milk. Someone else here suggested adding a little milk to the leftovers before microwaving. Also, I used 2 cans of Bumblebee chunk white tuna. It was awful, not a chunk to be seen but just a lot of flaky bits and very fishy tasting. Next time I will use the good solid white albacore you can get at Costco (Kirkland). Nice big pieces of tuna and not fishy at all. I also reduced the cheese to about a cup and a half. I will definately make this again but just be careful of the brand of tuna. It's worth it to pay a little more.

Lemon Sauce for Salmon Patties

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2011
This sounds good, I plan to make it in the next few days to put on the Oregon salmon patties recipe I found on this site. I like the idea of the basic lemon sauce with just a little garlic flavor to "kick it up".
