About this Cook
Having been raised with my grandparents from Syria and Lebanon, my bedroom above the kitchen, and every Saturday my Sitti would bake bread for the family for the whole week. I could hear her singing the Syrian folk song as the smell of her bread baking wafted up to my room. She would toss the bread into the air better than any pizza maker I have ever seen. I have a great fondness for middle East food. Over the years I have gotten pretty good at preparing dishes I enjoyed while living at Sitti and Jiddy's. I didn't know how valuable that up bringing meant until I got older and looked back. My wife Deborah now makes delicious Baklava, Syrian bread, and Lubbin. Next to having the Spirit of the Lord in my heart, Deborah is the jewel in my life.
My favorite things to cook
Pot roast, roast turkey, chicken, soups, chili, and other salads. Caccatore, egg plant parmasean, spaghetti, and course my favorite Middle East favorites like tabouli, kibbie, stuffed grape leaves, Mujadra, egg plant, and more..

Old-Fashioned Vegetable Soup
I used vegetable broth instead of beef because that is what I had, added a diced Russett potato, and a teaspoon of oregano. Everyone loved it oncluding my neighbor. I make this soup all the time and have passed it along to my relatives. Great job Shelly, Thank you.

Cranberry, Sausage and Apple Stuffing
This stuffing hit a home run at the supper table. The only other item I added was a half cup of chopped carrots for color. Everyone loved it, even my wife who said it was "very good honey," and when she says that about a dish I prepared, I know it was great. I will continue using that recipe. Oh, one more thing, I added another cup of chicken broth to the mix.
