Having been raised with my grandparents from Syria and Lebanon, my bedroom above the kitchen, and every Saturday my Sitti would bake bread for the family for the whole week. I could hear her singing the Syrian folk song as the smell of her bread baking wafted up to my room. She would toss the bread into the air better than any pizza maker I have ever seen. I have a great fondness for middle East food. Over the years I have gotten pretty good at preparing dishes I enjoyed while living at Sitti and Jiddy's. I didn't know how valuable that up bringing meant until I got older and looked back. My wife Deborah now makes delicious Baklava, Syrian bread, and Lubbin. Next to having the Spirit of the Lord in my heart, Deborah is the jewel in my life.
My favorite things to cook
Pot roast, roast turkey, chicken, soups, chili, and other salads. Caccatore, egg plant parmasean, spaghetti, and course my favorite Middle East favorites like tabouli, kibbie, stuffed grape leaves, Mujadra, egg plant, and more..
