Carolina BBQ

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2006
This was the best BBQ shredded pork I've ever had! Just like we would get when we visited the carolinas. I did do it in the crock pot though, and instead of the 10 cups water I added 1 cup vinegar, 1cup water, lots of different dried peppers like crushed red pepper, blk pepper corns, cayenne pepper along with the other ingredients and used that as the broth in the slow cooker. Then slow cooked it for 10+ hours (overnight) on low and then went on with the rest of the directions.

Rhubarb and Strawberry Pie

This was the best! It was just like what my grandmother use to make. I did add 1 teaspoon of cornstarch as insurance though.

Grandma Sal's Peach Kuchen

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2006
My neighbor use to make this when I was a child. This is perfect, just the way I remember it! The only change I made was I changed the cream to be half sour cream and half cream. I remember my neighbor using sour cream when she made it.

Pot Sticker Dumplings

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2005
These were great! I did do some tweaks though. 1st I rolled out the dough so it was thinner, this way it wasn't too doughy. With the filling I didn't cook the chicken first, all i did was mix all the filling ingredients together than filled. Browned the bottom and then steamed with a little chicken stock instead of water. Kids and DH LOVED them!

Manicotti Alla Romana

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2004
This was the best Manicotti ever! This reminded me so much of my Grandma Nonni's recipe that has been lost for years. The only thing i did different was that I made the tradional Manicotti pancakes that I found on this site too. This recipe is a keeper :)

Best Breakfast Cookie

This recipe is just like the real cookie!! I substitued the ap flour for Whole wheat, just like in the real cookies. I've also made other variations like Peanut Butter, Mocha Chocolate chip, Apple Pie. I highly recommend this recipe...

Deep Dark Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2002
This was an excellant cake. The only thing i did was change 3/4 cup of cocoa. i cut that to 1/2 cup & 1/4 cup of black cocoa that i had. I did the same with the frosting too. Half and half for the cocoas. It was perfect!! My son wanted a black cake with a black fudge frosting, by goodness he got it. :) thanks for the recipe.

This was an excellant cake! Very light & the taste was awesome. Made thin Lemon drizzle icing & that just put this cake right over the top for the Rotary luncheon.

French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2002
This was really good bread. But I never got the crisp crust though. It was defiantely chewy & very tasty like an italian bread almost. Substitued the water for beer the second time I made the recipe & made that into a loaf also. That was great.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2002
This did not turn out that well. I followed the recipe to the letter, but the sauce never thickend up and it separated. Not very appealing to eyes. Had to throw in some defrosted mixed vegetables just to dress it up a bit. The only thing it had going for it was the taste.

Blueberry Boy Bait

This was great!! It was very moist & delicious. The only problem I had was that the topping was absorbed when the cake puffed up. But it was still great though. Thanks for the recipe.

This was excellent! It had just enough cayenne pepper to give it a kick that was unexpected but delicious. I added fresh sliced mushrooms before adding the sauce. It was perfect.

This is by far the best sourdough bread I've made. I place sesame seeds on top instead of chopped onion, it's great!
