Grilled Teriyaki Tuna

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2002
I changed the recipe a bit by omitting the olive oil and using garlic powder since I didn't have fresh garlic on-hand. Tasted great!

Tofu Parmigiana

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2002
i felt there wasn't enough flavor to it, and the texture was very mushy. the pieces fell apart very easily. i'm a big fan of tofu, but not with this recipe. i think i'll stick with eggplant instead.

Grilled Chicken with Ginger and Black Bean Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2007
this was pretty good. next time i make it, i will add either fish sauce or soy sauce to add more flavor. even some lemon may add a little more.

Lemon Garlic Tilapia

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2007
this dish had great ingredients, but to make it more flavorful, i would marinate for at least 30 minutes and it also needs some salt.

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2008
This recipe offered a lot of flavor, but i think adding some type of sugar base to the chicken and marinating it for a bit would absorb more flavor. Next time, I will try to add some lemon-lime soda. I also added some chicken broth to the pan and let the chicken simmer in it. That made a great sauce. I was also unable to brown the chicken. Next time I will brown the onions, then take the onions out of the pan, brown the chicken, then add the onions back in. I would also saute some fresh chopped garlic in the pan.

Macaroni and Cheese V

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2008
My family loved this recipe! I didn't put any mustard in since I didn't have it on-hand, and I also skipped the breadcrumbs. Instead, I put more shredded cheese on top after baking and broiled it for about five minutes. I also put only half the amount of milk to make it very cheesy. Next time I will try it with sharp cheddar, as we like the strong flavor.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2008
my family really loves this recipe. i do modify it a bit by using ground turkey, adding one envelope of onion soup mix instead of the chopped onion, i omit the ginger, i also use about 1/2 cup of milk, and i use 1/3 cup of ketchup and 1/3 cup of brown sugar. i use half of that ketchup and sugar mixture in the meat and use the other half on top of the loaf. this really is a great recipe, thanks for sharing it!

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2008
Didn't have as much flavor as I had hoped. Next time I will probably take some of the ketchup sauce and mix it in with the meat before baking. My son (who hates meat) ate this up, so I will definitely make this again.

Last Minute Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
I make this all the time when I want a quick healthy side dish. The butter makes it so rich and tasty, my husband always asks me to "make the mushrooms!"

Portobello Penne Pasta Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2008
this recipe is great. i made a few modifications. i omitted the milk sauce and instead just sauteed some garlic, the mushrooms, added fresh spinach and soy sauce, and tossed it with cheese in the baking dish. i baked for 15 minutes and put it in the broiler for 2. it was a hit with the family.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: May 12, 2008
this was my first time making pot roast and eating pot roast. i thought it came out pretty good. i used a tri-tip roast, only 1.5lbs of it (and i even put it in the slow cooker frozen) with one can of cream of mushroom soup, one packet of onion soup mix, and 3/4 cup of water. i also added onions and carrots. the gravy was not runny at all, and the overall taste of the meat was, well, beefy. i would like to add some other seasonings to bring out more flavor, instead of it just tasting like plain beef. but the meat was so tender and it fell apart with the touch of a fork. my husband and son loved it.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2008
awesome rice pudding even with soy milk! i wasn't sure if it would still be creamy, but it was perfect. next time, i will omit the egg since it didn't seem necessary. i will also try chocolate next time too.

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2008
taste is great, but the didn't care for the form! this thing completely fell apart and cracked, and it's just a gooey mess. maybe it's because i used one of those silicone pans. it probably would have stayed together more in a metal or glass pan? i was making this for a potluck, but i've got to pick up something else to bring. i cannot serve this. i give it two stars since it tastes good, but i will be searching for another recipe.

Eggplant Supper Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
awesome soup! i made some changes by seasoning the beef first with salt, pepper, sugar and soy sauce. i cooked the garlic and onions first then browned the beef and left everything in the pan. i didn't have celery, but i did add mushrooms. when i added the broth, i also added more soy sauce. will definitely make this soup again.

Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2008
omigosh, this was so good. i thought this was the first time i followed this recipe, but apparently i had already reviewed it! this time around tasted so much better. i used 3 cloves of garlic, panko bread crumbs, added rosemary to it since that's all i had, and used thigh pieces cut in half. i baked at 350 for 35 minutes. what a great alternative to milk and egg batter. we love garlic, i may add more next time. i will also try topping with fresh parmesan and broiling for the last 5 minutes for extra crunchiness. i also want to try making popcorn chicken. thanks for the recipe, my 4 year old ate A TON!!

Cheryl's Spinach Cheesy Pasta Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2008
delicious base recipe. for added flavor, use a tomato sauce of your choice. i used a roasted garlic spaghetti sauce which added tons of flavor. i also added more vegetables that my family enjoys. this is a quick dinner to prepare for a last-minute meal. i only baked for 20 minutes and broiled for a few minutes. my husband and son loved it. will be making again.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2008
this pound cake definitely doesn't taste like sara lee's, which i think most people are looking for. i thought it was too dense though, and to me and my family it tasted more like moon cake. i did like the taste, but am looking for a recipe that makes a fluffy, light pound cake.

Thai-Style Peanut Sauce with Honey

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2008
this is a great base for a peanut sauce. my mom makes it with hoisin sauce, so i'm sure adding that in will taste more like the vietnamese-style peanut sauce. i also added lime with gives it a tangy taste. thanks for sharing.
