Married and mother of two boys or should I have said men. They are now 23 and 27. Love home cooked food and dislike quickie take outs like Mickey D's and BK's and so on.....
My favorite things to cook
Lamb & roasted potatoes, spinach pie, pasta dishes, seafood and great desserts....
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every orthodox Easter we have many . One of the best and favs of all the family and friends, is the dying of the RED Easter Eggs. My mother has a big pot that comes out to dye the Red Eggs and then away until the following yr.We all get involved with the process. First the eggs are put to dye. Three and four dozen at a time. We dye at least 12 dozen. Then we gather around the kitchen table. Newspapers lied out and then we set out the egg cartons. We work in pairs, one of the pair takes the red dyed egg and rubs a little cooking oil all over it .This is done with a little cloth soaked with oil and then that person passes it to the partner with the dry cloth.This person wipes the oil off, well as much as possible and then puts them into the egg carton. They then dry and are left with a wonderful light sheen on them. While the whole time this is happening. All the while we the women are celebrating with wine, cheese,crackers and chips and sweets and coffee... What a wonderful traditi
My cooking triumphs
Making great pie crusts. AS well as conquering the Greek twisted butter cookies. Practice does make perfect, there is no other way for these cookies. This is very true.
My cooking tragedies
Making Tough... tough cookies.......... Toooo... much Flour and tooo long baking..... Butter rocks... YECK>>>
