Roasted Winter Squash Seeds

Very addicting and a great idea, especially right now when squash is cheap. I use butternut squash seeds. I like to put the raw seeds in a covered bowl w/the olive oil and some seasoned (Lawry's) salt. I make them in my pizza oven, so I have to continuously stir, some get a little burnt, but it adds to the flavor!

Cajun Grilled Corn

I ran out of room in the pan for boiling corn, so I tried this. Only I didn't grill it (no room on the grill), I buttered the cobs and sprinkled the seasoning on, wrapped them in tinfoil (already husked them)and popped them in the broiler at 400 for 1/2 hour. Very tender, better then boiled. The child in my house didn't try it, but I'm sure he would love it!! Thank you for the recipe. P.S. can't wait to try it on the grill!!

Peppermint Punch

This was a different punch. I couldn't find peppermint ice cream, so had to settle for peppermint bon-bon ice cream. Wasn't as sweet as I had expected. Needed something, but couldn't figure out what. I'll have to try it again, I think.

Donna's Famous Cheesecake

Delicious cheesecake. Not too hard to make either! Though I did find that I needed more than 1 1/2 tablespoons of butter for the crust. I baked mine with a panful of water in the oven and it didn't get cracks in the top. Also, I let it sit in the oven to cool for 1 hr then refrigerated it overnight. It came out great.

The submitter is not saying you HAVE to freeze them before eating them, she's saying that you can make them up and then freeze them and they will keep for a month.

Hot Buttered Rum Batter

Very Good, makes a lot! When I mix it up, I like my drink to be thick, so I use 3 TBS of batter. Also, try it w/Frangelico instead of rum!

Creamy Caramel Flan

I thought this dish was wonderful. Although, not quick, it wasn't too difficult. Since it was my first time making and eating Flan, I wasn't sure what to expect. My sister said that it tasted like the authentic stuff she had while she was in Mexico, so definitley a compliment there! Thank you for the recipe and I'll be making this one again. Note: don't stick your finger in melted sugar no matter how cooled off you think it is (I learned that the hard way)!! I found that the ideal cooking time was 52-53 minutes for the perfect texture.

Breaded Chicken Fingers

Got a thumbs up approval from the picky boyfriend and child! Pretty easy, though time consuming (which is the basis for -1 star), but very tasty. Thank you for sharing the recipe. Edit: I like to use this recipe as a base for boneless buffalo "wings", yum!

Pico de Gallo Chicken Quesadillas

This recipe is wonderful. I didn't have fresh garlic, but found that minced garlic in a jar worked just fine. Tastes much like a famous fast-food chain's version of a chicken fajita. My boyfriend loved them, the only complaint was, there wasn't another one left over, but that can be easily remedied. Worth the time it takes to make. I used pre cut stir-fry chicken. I would suggest to the next person going that route to cut the chicken up even more in to bite-sized pieces. Thank you for the recipe! Edit: I'll making the filling for these and just serving it as a chicken soft shell taco, in homemade tortillas w/sour cream spread on them and cheese sprinkled over all. Very good! Also, try it with chicken thigh meat instead of chicken breast, you can omit the 2nd tbs of oil. Heavenly!

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken

Made it to the letter the 1st time and it was excellent. The 2nd time I made fajitas out of it by making the following changes: sliced the breasts into strips, replaced the butter with olive oil, doubled the lime juice/garlic powder at the end for more liquid, added a pepper of each color (red, orange, yellow, green, all cut into strips) and 1/2 an onion, cooked the veggies until crisp/tender. Served it all in heated corn tortillas This is delicious on its own and even better with the modifications.

Best Fried Green Tomatoes

I love fried green tomatoes. I always make a mess, but it's worth it. I've found that bacon fat is the best frying agent (although not animal-friendly or heart friendly), it gives the best flavor. Also, I tried crushing up club crackers instead of bread crumbs and added them to the cornmeal and I added a dab of butter to the bacon fat. Yum!!! Also, I like to use green tomatoes that have a little red on them. I can't wait for summer to make them again!

German Pancake with Buttermilk Sauce

A little more egg-y than I expected, but combined w/the sauce it was delicious, my bf was ready to lick the plate clean. I agree the sauce would taste wonderful on ice cream or even baked apples. I may try to sweeten up the cake next time, just for a more "confectionary" taste. Thank you Penny for submitting this recipe.

Baked Apples

I had never had baked apples before, these were delicious!! I used Granny Smith apples. I had to use unsalted butter (boyfriend did the grocery shopping and it was th cheapest!). The little kid didn't have them, he's kind of picky, but the "big kid" (my boyfriend) tried some and loved it (another picky eater).

Wow, very good by itself and a great platform to build on. I put crushed tostadas on top. Next time I might use 1/2 corn tortillas and 1/2 flour tortilla and more salsa.

Peach Cobbler Dump Cake I

My mom makes this, too, it is so easy and so good! My mom's recipe says to use Butter Brickle cake mix, if it can be found, I found a Butter Pecan cake mix and it was divine! I divided it up between 2 8" cake pans and cooked them for probably closer to an hour. One pan I took to work and it was gone by the afternoon. The other pan stayed home w/me and, darn, no body in the house likes peaches, so I had to eat it all by myself! ;) Thanks for sharing the recipe, Jessica!

Wisconsin Native's Beer Cheese Soup

I liked it, my hubby and stepson didn't unfortunately. I added bacon to mine (along w/the bacon drippings) for a little more flavor. And I made it w/my hubby's homemade porter - yum! If I were to make again, I would strain the celery and carrots out, I think. Thanks for the recipe!
