Apple Crisp V

Loved the applesauce idea. seemed like too many apples for the amount of filling and topping. Didn't get a crispy topping.

Baked Apples

I had never had baked apples before, these were delicious!! I used Granny Smith apples. I had to use unsalted butter (boyfriend did the grocery shopping and it was th cheapest!). The little kid didn't have them, he's kind of picky, but the "big kid" (my boyfriend) tried some and loved it (another picky eater).

Best Fried Green Tomatoes

I love fried green tomatoes. I always make a mess, but it's worth it. I've found that bacon fat is the best frying agent (although not animal-friendly or heart friendly), it gives the best flavor. Also, I tried crushing up club crackers instead of bread crumbs and added them to the cornmeal and I added a dab of butter to the bacon fat. Yum!!! Also, I like to use green tomatoes that have a little red on them. I can't wait for summer to make them again!

Cajun Grilled Corn

I ran out of room in the pan for boiling corn, so I tried this. Only I didn't grill it (no room on the grill), I buttered the cobs and sprinkled the seasoning on, wrapped them in tinfoil (already husked them)and popped them in the broiler at 400 for 1/2 hour. Very tender, better then boiled. The child in my house didn't try it, but I'm sure he would love it!! Thank you for the recipe. P.S. can't wait to try it on the grill!!

Black Forest Dump Cake II

I've never had Black Forest anything, so I was a little nervous about chocolate and cherries but it was great! Very easy. I don't know if my boyfriend has tried it, but his boy did and liked it, I'll most likely make this again!

Creamy Caramel Flan

I thought this dish was wonderful. Although, not quick, it wasn't too difficult. Since it was my first time making and eating Flan, I wasn't sure what to expect. My sister said that it tasted like the authentic stuff she had while she was in Mexico, so definitley a compliment there! Thank you for the recipe and I'll be making this one again. Note: don't stick your finger in melted sugar no matter how cooled off you think it is (I learned that the hard way)!! I found that the ideal cooking time was 52-53 minutes for the perfect texture.

German Pancake with Buttermilk Sauce

A little more egg-y than I expected, but combined w/the sauce it was delicious, my bf was ready to lick the plate clean. I agree the sauce would taste wonderful on ice cream or even baked apples. I may try to sweeten up the cake next time, just for a more "confectionary" taste. Thank you Penny for submitting this recipe.

Pico de Gallo Chicken Quesadillas

This recipe is wonderful. I didn't have fresh garlic, but found that minced garlic in a jar worked just fine. Tastes much like a famous fast-food chain's version of a chicken fajita. My boyfriend loved them, the only complaint was, there wasn't another one left over, but that can be easily remedied. Worth the time it takes to make. I used pre cut stir-fry chicken. I would suggest to the next person going that route to cut the chicken up even more in to bite-sized pieces. Thank you for the recipe! Edit: I'll making the filling for these and just serving it as a chicken soft shell taco, in homemade tortillas w/sour cream spread on them and cheese sprinkled over all. Very good! Also, try it with chicken thigh meat instead of chicken breast, you can omit the 2nd tbs of oil. Heavenly!

Peppermint Punch

This was a different punch. I couldn't find peppermint ice cream, so had to settle for peppermint bon-bon ice cream. Wasn't as sweet as I had expected. Needed something, but couldn't figure out what. I'll have to try it again, I think.

Fettuccine Tomato Basil Salad

Pretty bland. Seems like too many noodles for the rest of the ingredients. I will do some touching up when I make it again. Mainly the addition of garlic. You may want to add a little oil to the boiling water when cooking the noodles (I forgot this step!) or you'll end up w/a clump o'noodles! Not a bad recipe, just could use some tweaking.

Breaded Chicken Fingers

Got a thumbs up approval from the picky boyfriend and child! Pretty easy, though time consuming (which is the basis for -1 star), but very tasty. Thank you for sharing the recipe. Edit: I like to use this recipe as a base for boneless buffalo "wings", yum!

Honey Mustard Drizzle

A little to "wine-y" for my taste, I'll cut back next time. I was looking for something a little thicker for dipping, so, I added more flour and I added more honey mustard to the mix and it actually wasn't bad, it kinda grew on ya. So, that's what I'd change, a little less wine and more honey mustard. Thank you for sharing the recipe.

Creamy Rice Pudding

I thought this recipe was great. I used evaporated milk mixed with regular to make it a little more rich. I did double the amount of vanilla, though, because I like the flavor! To "spice" it up, I sprinkled pumpkin pie spice on top when serving (though, it was just me eating it, no one else in the house likes rice pudding, too bad for them!). It was relatively easy to prepare over all. Many thanks for sharing

Fluffy Pumpkin Cheesecake Pie

I made this last year for Thanksgiving and had many ooh's and ah's over it, it was very popular. I will be making it again this year. Looks pretty decorated with chocolate and white chocolate leaves.

Donna's Famous Cheesecake

Delicious cheesecake. Not too hard to make either! Though I did find that I needed more than 1 1/2 tablespoons of butter for the crust. I baked mine with a panful of water in the oven and it didn't get cracks in the top. Also, I let it sit in the oven to cool for 1 hr then refrigerated it overnight. It came out great.

New England Clam Chowder II

Hot Buttered Rum Batter

Very Good, makes a lot! When I mix it up, I like my drink to be thick, so I use 3 TBS of batter. Also, try it w/Frangelico instead of rum!

Wisconsin Native's Beer Cheese Soup

I liked it, my hubby and stepson didn't unfortunately. I added bacon to mine (along w/the bacon drippings) for a little more flavor. And I made it w/my hubby's homemade porter - yum! If I were to make again, I would strain the celery and carrots out, I think. Thanks for the recipe!
