I have an allergy to dairy products, so I am always searching for recipes I can adapt or that do not use any milk products. I sometimes eat vegan dishes since I know they will be free of dairy, but in general I am a meat-lover! Also, I am very fortunate to live in a town with a great natural foods cooperative and wonderful farmer's market walking distance from my place, and an intense focus on locally grown and produced foods.
My favorite things to cook
Roasted chicken, pork or beef roasts, pancakes, waffles, lima beans, cabbage, collard greens, green beans, mexican rice, tostadas, salsa verde, guacamole, shrimp, pasta, popcorn, meatballs and dairy free cakes, cookies and brownies. Mediterranean -- anything with lots of olive oil, garlic, italian spices and red pepper flakes.
My cooking triumphs
a chocolate bundt cake..a friend called it "legendary!" My friends have always raved about my roasted chicken as well.
My cooking tragedies
trying to make a "cream cheese" frosting with a soy-based cream cheese..TRAGIC!
