About this Cook
I'm a stay at home mom who has 2 adult children 1 boy and 1 girl, a teenage son and a 5 year old son, and a husband of 16 yrs. I enjoy cooking and baking, with cakes being my specialty.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are cakes and frostings. Peanut brittle, fudge, pancakes, ribs, chili, and barbecue sauces.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When me and my children, my nephew and grandchildren all get together on Sunday's mainly but it could happen anyday of the week and cook a meal together. We enjoy cooking together for birthdays and the holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
Once I entered a baking contest at a church I attended a few years ago. I won 1st place for my cream cheese lemon pie. And when I perfect a cake or barbecue sauce recipe that I have revised to a 5 star hit.
My cooking tragedies
Just recently I was going to smoother some pork steaks I had fried and burned my stomach with hot grease when I was trying to pour the hot grease back into the grease container. I received 2nd degree burns.

Lemon Cake
I took the advice from some of the reviews I read and used Duncan Hines lemon cake mix, and a small box of Jell-O Brand lemon pudding mix. I used one egg and 2 egg whites, I substituted a forth of a cup of the water for bottled lemon juice, and I followed the cooking directions as noted and my cake fell. I mixed it one minute on low and four minutes on high. I don't know what went wrong. I preheated the oven, but used a nine by thirteen pan, because I didn't have a ten by fifteen pan. I WANT try to make this again.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies
Good cookie, just couldn't get one batch to form into a ball or get them too look like the cookies displayed with the recipe. However, my husband loved them and my 6 year old says they are good, good, good! He asked if I could put frosting on them. I am thinking an orange glaze would be good.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake
This is a very good carrot cake. I followed the directions as stated and the cake was lovely. I've made it several times and it has never come out dense, only moist and tasty. If you want a delicious carrot cake, this is the one. I've omitted the coconut when I've made it for my home and it's still wonderful. My mother in law likes coconut so I add coconut when I make it for her. As long as you keep the cake batter mixture as is, it doesn't matter what you add in or take out the cake will still be great!
