About this Cook
I live in the midwest but was born in the South, so I have been able to enjoy dishes from both areas. I really like being able to prepare a fabulous meal for the people close to me and being able to sit around the dinner table and enjoy it together.
My favorite things to cook
I love eating healthy but rich-tasting foods, so I experiment a lot with low-fat/low-carb sauces and tend to bake rather than fry. Some of my favorite things to prepare are oven fried chicken, roasted red potatoes, and a delicious salad.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom has and always will be the best cook in my eyes. She comes from a tradition of Southern cooks who have passed down recipes from generation to generation, and her food is rich and warm and brings people together.
My cooking triumphs
I like experimenting by making up my own recipes based on ingredients that go well together, and I have actually come up with some pretty tasty dishes!
My cooking tragedies
So many...:)

Pumpkin Fluff Dip
Soooo good! Made this for a Labor Day bbq and got a lot of compliments. I doubled the recipe and it made a ton, but it's nice to have some leftover :) Served it with cinnamon graham crackers and ginger snaps.

Creamy Italian White Bean Soup
It was a decent soup, a little on the bland side for my tastes. It is incredibly healthy and is good for those that enjoy milder flavored soups.

Almond Chicken Salad
This is very good if you're looking for a dressing that goes with Asian style salads. I have made this numerous times over the past couple of months, and it's always something I look forward to eating. It may only be me, but I notice it's a bit on the spicy side. I think this is due to the dry mustard. If you don't like the hint of spice, opt for less mustard or substitute. Otherwise, excellent!
