Italian Herb Bread I

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2014
Great recipe. I used my mixer (sadly not a kitchen aid) to mix so I didn't have any difficulties. I added 1/2cup ground flax seed meal and omitted 1/2 cup flour to offset- just to add some fiber and a little texture. The bread was flavorful and crusty on the outside yet soft inside. A little heavy but overall just great.

Mawmaw's Simple Fried Green Tomatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2014
Great recipe. Very simple and quick to make. I would recommend turning the heat up as using low heat causes some of the breading to dissolve into the pan. The cold water helps the breading adhere and there is no need to use eggs as in other recipes. These are delicious and took about 10 minutes to do all four tomatoes. My tomatoes were medium so I only used one cup of cornmeal and one cup of flour. Wonderful and will make again. I'm going to try with pickles next time!

Excellent recipe. Light and fluffy. Make sure to grease your muffin tins well. And make a double batch for sure!

Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie

This competes with the World's Best Lasagna recipe on this site for the best recipes on here. Wonderful, perfect. The only thing I do differently is use low-fat items instead of regular. Perfect.

Belle's Hamburger Buns

Really good, easy, and a nice change. I found them a little heavy though, and it only made 8 normal-sized buns for me.

Absolutely Best Brownies

I am everyone's favorite guest due to this recipe. It is great, I have to quadruple it to make enough. Add chocolate chips to make an extra layer of chocolate.

Zucchini Bread with Cinnamon Sugar Topping

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
Excellent. Only thing I had an issue with is it took around 15 min extra to bake. Did not use raisins. Very good breakfast treat!

Granny Mabel's Best Bar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
Love them. Wonderful recipe. I use a 13by 9 pan and keep them in the fridge, and cut into small pieces. Keeping them cold makes it easy to grab one (or three) really quickly. I have made it several times this past month! Only thing I change is only 1 cup chocolate chips- I think with 2 cups you loose the other flavors.

Fresh Salsa

Absolutely perfect! I added cilantro, 1/4 of a bunch. I have made it 2x in 3days. More of a pico de gallo type, chunky salsa.

Tangy Apple Chicken Loaf

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2011
Very different and healthy dish. It was a little time consuming to put together, but for so many fruit/veggie servings in one dish, it is worth it! I used gala apples, used 2 carrots, and panko bread crumbs. I did not have any poultry seasoning or sage so I used thyme and cinnamon, which worked nicely. Also, I used fresh finely chopped apples instead of the applesauce to save on additional sugar. A great, fresh dish, nothing like a "regular" meatloaf!

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Wonderful. I tripled for a family gathering and everyone raved about how good it was. I did not use the bread crumbs or butter on top and did not think it was missing anything.

Wow. That's all I have. I served with grilled sweet onions, wild rice, and corn on the cob. So tender, juicy, and just wow.

Ice Cream Cake

Reviewed: May 18, 2011
There is a much easier way to do this. Bake 2 9inch cakes and put 1 in the bottom of a springform pan, place in the freezer and freeze for 2 hours. Allow your ice cream to melt almost all the way, then pour over the frozen cake, and push down to fit into the pan. Add your other cake layer and freeze again. When frozen completely, around 3-4 hours, remove from the springform pan to frost. I like to use a whipped cream cheese frosting with this. Let it thaw for around 20 min to serve, and use your dental floss at this point. Great!

Boyfriend Bait Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: May 11, 2011
Oh my! My son laughed at the name, then after he had it, he said, "You are right- this IS boyfriend bait!". He is 11 by the way. This recipe is great, I think it is the mustard/sour cream mix that makes it so good. I actually started making it and realized I had no mushrooms, so I omitted them, and had no cornstarch, but 3tablespoons flour worked fine. Great recipe that will be made repeatedly at my house!

Favorite Corn Bread

Reviewed: May 11, 2011
Very good, easy, good texture, just a little sweet for my liking, I prefer a dryer, less sweet cornbread, but this was good. It was not as sweet as Jiffy, which is way too sweet for me. I would make it again based on the texture and use less sugar.

Slow Cooker Chicken Dressing

Reviewed: May 11, 2011
Yes, it is definitely moist! Even cutting back the broth and the soup it was too moist for me. I think the next time I make this I will set the bread out and let it harden overnight, and cut the broth way back to a few tablespoons. It seemed like the longer it cooked, the more liquid appeared! Strange. Overall, it was a good dinner, different, I would make it again but add celery, more onion, and less broth.

Stuffed Chicken Breasts with Asparagus and Parmesan Rice

Reviewed: May 2, 2011
This is excellent. It has a lot of flavor and the chicken turns out very juicy. I fixed extra asparagus for a side dish along with the rice, the whole meal is visually striking and delish. I will decrease the chicken broth to 1 3/4 cup instead of 2cups the next time I make it as it took around 35 minutes for the extra liquid to boil off. I used brown rice (I always use brown rice, much more fiber!). Otherwise I followed the directions to a tee and it was great.

World's Best Lasagna

Fantastic! I made one tray with meat (I put meatballs in the food processor) and one tray veggie with carrots, spinach, zucchini, and mushrooms. Absolutely delicious, I think this is the best recipe I have made so far on this website.
