About this Cook
I'm a housewife and mother of 2. I've never been a very good cook but I can follow a recipe. I'm just completely hopeless when I try to invent my own dishes. I cook for 5 people on a very tight budget ($185 a month) so I'm looking for good home made recipes that won't break my budget.
My favorite things to cook
I don't really have anything that I thoroughly enjoy cooking but I do love eating my Shepard's Pie.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family didn't do a lot of cooking while I was growing up but one thing I do remember is my grandmother's home made chicken/turkey noodle soup, all from scratch, I've never been able to make it on my own though.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I
I have used this recipe many times over the last year, this EXACT recipe. It is a huge hit with both of my children AND my husband and for all three of them to love and request ANY dish is a miracle so bravo Jessica, I tip my virtual hat to you my dear. I now make this recipe twice every month and I have to keep it unpredictable, otherwise we have friends and family who "randomly" pop over for a dinner visit on stroganoff night!

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak
My husband and my children have voted to have this recipe included in my monthly menu! To reduce the saltiness I try to use low sodium onion soup mix or if I'm out of that I just use half of the regular au jus mix, it seems to balance out pretty well. It can be pretty salty with both the onion soup mix and the au jus mix in the amount listed in the recipe, my husband LOVES it salty but the kids and I like it just a tad less so.

Baked Apricot Chicken
Excellent recipe!! As per the family's request, it has been added to my monthly menu and they want it at LEAST three times a month (the kids voted for twice a WEEK but that's a bit much, lol) We tried it with Catalina and also with French dressing. We decided Catalina made it amazing whereas the French dressing made it "pretty good." (We like it both ways though and so this gets a 5/5)
