Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2007
I will never make chicken another way. Turns even the cheapest chicken to a succulent feast! Who would have thought that roasting it so long would make it anything but dry, but miraculously, it works!

Cinnamon Rolls II

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2006
I used the basic dough recipe to make monkey bread. I also used fast-action yeast, which worked fine. I divided the dough into balls, dipped in melted butter and rolled in cinnamon/sugar, let it rise overnight and wowed all my friends at our Christmas brunch. The dough is soft and just-right sweet. Awesome!

Fudgy Brownies I

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2006
Thought I lost this recipe and was having a bit of a panic - no other brownie recipe will do. These come out perfect for me every time - crispy corners and squidgy middle, dark, rich, chocolate...exactly what you want when you are craving brownies.

Apricot Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2005
I tried this recipe just because I was intrigued by the combination of flavours, and I'm so glad I did! Very tasty - I made no changes.

Grison Beef Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2004
This was really tasty! What to do when you have stewing beef but the only vegetable left in the house is cabbage? More like a very chunky soup, the meat was so tender, and the flavours all merged together deliciously. Great with some crusty bread to sop up the broth.

Vegetarian Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2004
I've never had much success with gravy until this recipe! It's a bit tricky, whisking out the lumps, but that's gravy. The flavour is superb, however! I've no idea what nutritional yeast is, so I left it out. I was uncertain about the soy sauce too, but it really does work. I have also tried this recipe adding the juice from my Thanksgiving turkey and it was wonderful.

Broccoli Quiche with Mashed Potato Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2003
I really liked this - good comfort food. I sauteed the onions first and added a little garlic. Also kept the crust in to cook longer to get it really crispy.

Conga Squares

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2003
These tasted really good, BUT - do they ever get cooked in the middle? I had them in the oven for ages, and the middle just collapsed when taken out of the pan as it was so soft. Would like to try the other Conga bars recipe to see if that is better.

Applesauce Custard Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2003
This is a great recipe - not your average apple pie. I love the custard/apple mix - it works great with homemade applesauce made with tart apples. Very easy and it has always turned out perfectly for me.

Easy Biscuit Mixture

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2003
Where I live, you can't easily get packaged baking mixes. This is a wonderful and economical substitute. The biscuits are great, the pancakes just like they should be, and it works as well (or better, since you know what's in it!) in recipes.

Plum Blueberry Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2003
This is such a keeper - I've made it with plums, nectarines, apricots - any kind of soft fruit would go down well, I imagine. It really is a pretty cake. Easy to make and an impressive result.

Zucchini Patties

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2003
Oh yeah! What a way to use up the zucchini in the garden! I like 'em simple, without all these additives, but a bit of garlic always goes down well too!

Fake Sourdough Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2003
I cut this recipe in half, because I didn't think I would want as many as it made - boy, was that a mistake! I'm not a big fan of sourdough, so I like these because they are not very sour, and no fussing with a starter! They are so easy to make, and the texture is wonderful - very light and fluffy. The dough IS sticky, but just put a lot of flour down to knead it. It's great that you can keep the dough on hand in the fridge for fresh bread when you want it!

Yogurt Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2003
I was looking for a choc chip cookie recipe with less butter than usual. I used butter in place of shortening and margarine (hey, it was still half of most other recipes!). These cookies look a little different - more puffy and they don't spread as much as chocolate chip cookies usually do, but they are a great texture with a wonderful, vanilla/buttery flavour.

Marble Cake I

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2003
I had no problems with this cake rising - it rose beautifully and is an easy cake to make but still looks impressive. And it tastes great too! I'll definitely be using this recipe a lot.
