Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2002
We used this recipe to make a huge pan cookie to layer it with fruit and a cream cheese frosting to make a cookie pastry. Everyone kept commenting that this was much better than other suger cookie recipes we have used in the past. The pastry was completely devoured in a few minutes. It was nice and soft with just enough crunch to hold it together. Yum Yum!

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2002
Pretty yummy! Very easy. The chicken was tender and had a nice flavor. I asked my husband if it was a keeper and he said "Oh yeah!" The only thing is I bought the real parmesan cheese still in shredded form and couldn't figure how the cheese and bread crumbs were going to stick to the chicken! My husband said,"I think you're supposed to use the powdered stuff in the green can." Oopps. That makes sense. Make sure you start off with the stuff in the green can. You know that stuff you put on spaghetti!

Butter Brickle Frozen Delight

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2002
VERY RICH AND VERRRRRRRRYYY SWEET. It's almost TOO SWEET. Some members of my extended family couldn't finish their one piece and they are big time dessert eaters! Although it's still good before it completely sets up, it takes SEVERAL hours to harden (Like over night). It's good any way you eat it though. Be careful to not press the graham cracker crust into the springform pan or it will be hard as stone in the bottom of your pan. I made a second batch with a double layer crust, since I like thick crusts, and I barely pressed it in. Much better.

Cheese Garlic Biscuits I

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2002
Yum Yum! I don't see you could get 9 biscuits from this unless you like really small mini biscuits. It made about 6 medium size. I'll add more cheese next time to make them really cheesey. A nice change from regular dinner rolls

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2002
Very yummy! A little time consuming, but adds a little something fancy to dinner parties. I'll make these again, but I'll add the bacon into the potatoe mixture rather than as a topping. I had large potatoes and I'll cook them longer next time too.

Pears Covered with Chocolate

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2002
Very simple like the recipe says, but I could have saved time peeling the pears and just used canned pears. It's not going to be that recipe that makes everyone say "WOW! How did you do this?"

I Love My Pear Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2004
This is pretty yummy! My sister in law made this recipe and brought it to a family dinner and everyone in the family has been asking for this jello every family dinner since! There are never left overs because it goes so quickly! Now, when we plan family dinners, someone asks, "So who is making the green jello?" It's light and creamy, like a dessert jello. My family loves it!

Judy's Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2002
OHHH this is yummy! It tastes like a light, fluffy, strawberry cheesecake. Everyone loved this. My brother in law said after one bite, "OH this is so good!" The only thing I will do differently when I make it again is smash the pretzels with a rolling pin so they are more pulverized, but NOT smash it so hard into the pan when making the crust. If you press too hard, you have a crust made of concrete. It was still YUMMY!

Orange Gelatin Salad

Pretty yummy! I took this to work for a potluck and I got several comments about how yummy it was and a few people asked me for the recipe. It's EASY and quick and yummy!

Best Peach Cobbler Ever

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2002
This tasted yummy but looked like a gooey mess. Then I re-read some of the other reviews and it hit me that I didn't SPOON the peaches out of the juice as the recipe says. I poured all the juice in too! No wonder it came out all mushy. It really tasted great though!

Saltine Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2002
At first, it wasn't quite as good as I was expecting with all the 5 star ratings, but it does nicely in a pinch if you need a quick fix. I'll probably experiment with it to make it thicker. The thickness of a single saltine cracker isn't anything to get all excited over. Maybe a thicker cracker would make them perfect. My husband took a taste, made a face and said, "This is really salty." They are alot better after sitting in the fridge at least over night. I made them 2 days ago. I just had one and thought, "OK these are better now!"

Dessert Crepes

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2002
Pretty yummy but not the absolute best crepes I have ever had. I am spoiled since I had crepes in France. Those would be hard to beat, but these are pretty good. We just had them with a little whipped cream and strawberry sauce.

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
If you like peanut butter, this pie is for you. IT IS REALLY RICH so have a glass of milk ready. I did as others suggested and only used 1 cup powdered sugar, One 8oz container of cool whip and 1 cup of milk. I made one for my son's pre school's teacher meeting and the director's comments were, "OH MY! That pie was DANGEROUS! It was really good!" I made one for dinner at my brother in law's and they said it was good. Make sure you freeze it over night if you want it more like peanut butter ice cream, like an ice cream cake with the crushed oreo cookie crust. I used an entire bag of oreos and 5 tbs of melted butter, and cooked the crust for 15 minutes. DO NOT smash the cookies down into the pie pan too hard or the crust will be like a rock. Good and easy but VERY PEANUT BUTTERY! It gets soft REALLY EASILY so don't let it sit out for too long or you have crust and soupy peanut butter mush all over.

Joy's Prizewinning Trifle

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2002
Pretty yummy! The only thing I would improve upon was the angel food cake I used. It wasn't as soft as I would have liked so my suggestion would be to use a soft white cake. The "filling was so yummy by itself that I kept dipping into to filling. That's what really makes this dish. I might make more than the recipe calles for next time and just smother the dessert in the filling. I also didn't have a trifle bowl so I used a glass baking dish. I'm sure it would look much nicer with all the pretty layers if I would have had a trifle dish so if you have one, it will look beautiful.

Chicken In Basil Cream

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2002
My husband is a PICKY eater and when he says, "YUM! This is really good. We need to have this again!" I WILL be making it again! It is a little on the fattening side with the cream so I might try a lighter substitute for the cream next time. This is a KEEPER!

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2002
My 10 year old said, "This is a 5 star recipe! I rate this right below mac and cheese!" That about says it all coming from a kid. My husband said "Oh yeah. I'd eat it again" so it's been added to our recipe box! We don't like our food too spicy so you might want to add more spice if you like a "kick" in your mexican food.

Hershey's ® Hot Fudge Pudding Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2002
I thought this was pretty good, but my husband didn't like it. He never goes for anything chocolate made from cocoa powder because it's more of a bitter taste and he likes more of a milk chocolate taste. It wasn't as good the next day, even after I heated it up in the microwave to make the chocolate sauce gooey again. You have to eat it when it's still warm and gooey!

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2005
So pretty and oh my gosh...YUM YUM! I made these with a friend for Christmas and when I saw her at work the next day she said OH MY GOSH! THOSE ARE SO GOOD!" EVERYONE that eats them LOVES THEM! They are addicting! Once you eat one, you can't stop! My whole family is coming over for New Year's Eve and my brother in law requested these cookies. I found that I had to make the little dough balls TEENIE TINY to make the recipe stretch. If you want to make allot, double the recipe. Update - EVERY TIME we make these people RAVE about them and say "Those were THE BEST cookies! Can I have the recipe?" They are the best!!!

Calabrese Style Spaghetti

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2002
GARLIC OVERLOAD! Something must have happened when the "All recipes servings converter" converted the recipe to 12 servings for our family dinner party. It was SO over garlicky that we just threw the whole pot away. Luckily we had something else to whip up for everyone but it was embarrassing to have to say, "Gee, everyone. I am so sorry. It was a 5 star recipe on my recipe site." I'll probably make it again out of curiousity to see if it comes out in the original 2 servings the recipe calls for.

Spanish Rice II

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2002
Pretty yummy, but a bit too spicy for our family. I'd make it again, but I'd make is less spicy. I made this for another family, and they loved it, but they like more spicy food than we do.
