Sour Cream Drops

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2006
Sorry, but these cookies did not turn out well for me. I didn’t mind the texture but there was no flavor. My teenage son didn’t like them either and if you have a sweet-tooth, like my DH, this is definitely not the cookie for you. I am searching for a cake-like cookie with coconut frosting that mom use to make for Christmas.

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2006
Very good pulled pork, husband and son enjoyed it, much better than the packaged store-bought variety. I used a pork loin roast and added 1 tbsp liquid smoke. When roast was done, I put the shredded pork in a large saucepan over medium heat and added a bottle of BBQ sauce.

Basic Ham and Bean Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2006
Great soup! My teenager loves it and my non-soup eating husband enjoys it too. I soak the beans overnight; use 6 cups of low-sodium chicken broth and 1 cup vegetable broth, no additional salt, and extra vegetables. I have used spiral ham bones, smoked turkey legs and wings. I throw everything in the stockpot and let it simmer until the turkey is falling off the bone, 2 to 3 hours, then remove meat/bones and shred, returning meat to pot. I have always pureed half the beans but I didn’t last time and hubby said he liked it better that way. Thanks so much for this recipe.

Greek Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2003
Marinated cut chicken pieces overnight and roasted in oven at 375 degrees for 55 mins. Chicken looked very tasty coming out of the oven. Picky 11-yr old said it was ok, I thought the breast was dry, and no comment from DH. Won't make again.

Chicken Savoy

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2003
I used a bag of select pieces with skin removed and freshly shredded Parmesan cheese. I didn't serve the chicken with the balsamic vinegar because I didn't have any on hand. Husband said it was a keeper and picky 11-yr old enjoyed dinner. Will add to recipe file.

Chocolate Bombs

Reviewed: May 14, 2003
Made these for my son’s cultural exchange class. He said the kids chased him around the classroom to get the last ones. Used Washed Raw Cane (Turbinado Style) Sugar instead of the pearl sugar and used Starbuck’s Frappuccino (coffee Flavored) instead of regular cold coffee.

Coconut Cream Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2003
Great taste, my husband ate all but the two slices I had. Probably just me but mine was a little runny. Still looking for a pie like my mom used to make, unfortunately her recipes were thrown out.

Creamy Dill Cucumber Toasties

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2003
Used low-fat cream cheese, English cucumber, fresh dill, added finely chopped red bell pepper, some shredded carrot, only 2 tbsp mayo, chilling for several hours. Wanted to try-out before taking to gathering. My husband, who eats everything, didn't even try them. Made some the following day but toasted bread. Liked it better with a little crunch. Nice presentation but not sure if it will go over well. Doubtful that I'll make this again.

Pepperoncini Beef

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2003
Everyone enjoyed, including picky 11-yr old son. Cooked an additional 2 hours on high to make shredding easier, then put back in crock and simmered 1 more hour.

Delicious Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2003
Cooked three small split breasts in 7x11" baking dish with 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce. Didn't find the flavor exciting at all. Won't make again.

Pico de Gallo Chicken Quesadillas

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2003
The pico de gallo was very good but didn't think the rest of the dish was worth all the trouble. I'll use the pico de gallo to go with chicken fajitas.

Used sesame oil and rice vinegar in place of vegetable oil and white wine vinegar. Will add to my collection.

I also used 1/2 cup oj, 1/4 cup soy, leaving out the raisins, and grilled on Webber gas grill. Very good. Picky 11-yr old son also enjoyed.

Kay's Spaghetti and Lasagna Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2002
GREAT! Picky 11-year old enjoyed it. I took the advice of using 1 tbsp sugar and adding a can of tomato paste. Also, only used 1 onion and 1 bell pepper and almost a 1 1/2 of hamburger.

Calabrese Style Spaghetti

GOOEY MESS! Overall, flavor wasn't bad but the Romano turned out disgusting. DH was working late so I told him to get his dinner on the way home. Won't try this again.

Needs a little more flavor. I also baked mine instead of frying. A lot of work for an ordinary dish.
