My only real suggestion - make a double batch! My little three-person family almost polished this off in the first meal, it was so good! I did have to make just a few changes - didn't have leftover ham, so I used a can of smoked ham, and I left out the celery because of a picky eater in the family (but did throw in celery seeds to get some of that celery flavor). I only had bouillion cubes, so used 6 as recommended by the conversion on the bottle, and thus decided to leave out the salt. I cut the pepper to 1/2 tsp (again, picky eater). The picky eater had two bowls! I don't like changing recipes significantly and then "reviewing" them - but I do think the substitutions I made just show the flexibility of the recipe and don't change the essence at all.
