Challah I

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2011
Every time I make this recipe it is a big hit.I follow the recipe exactly except that I use either all whole wheat or mostly whole wheat flour and I leave off the poppy-seeds. It also seems to bake MUCH faster then the recipe suggest that it will. I usually take it out at 25 minutes and it's perfectly done. I don't know if this is because I bake it on a pizza stone. I like peoples ideas with adding honey to the glaze. Maybe I'll try that next time.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2011
I just made these for burgers as a main dish for company tonight. They were a huge hit. I tripled the recipe and cooked them on olive oil coated foil on the barbecue. I had no problem with them sticking together. I mixed the whole concoction up in my kitchen-aide (which is also how I mashed the beans) and doubled the amount of bread crumbs that the recipe calls for. I put them out with traditional burger fixings (ketchup, pickles, lettuce, tomato etc) and everyone gobbled them right up. Please note: it is VERY IMPORTANT to oil the foil that you cook them on :o)

Butternut and Apple Harvest Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
I followed the recipe accept I substituted apple cider vinegar for the wine and I didn't measure very carefully because my squash was huge and I figured I'd need a little extra of stuff to balance things out. The soup turned out very good but I think the apple cider vinegar was too much. I may consider adding ginger and maybe garlic next time
