Southern Green Beans

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
A very good recipe! I made this as a side for Thanksgiving. It smelled wonderful when cooking and went very well with the meal. I needed to cook the green beans much longer than 10 minutes to make them tender, but as the potatoes cooked, some began to break down and thicken the sauce, which was a nice touch. I would prepare again.

Nacho Cheese Sauce

my family loved this! I used a mixture of American and pepper jack to give it a kick! My step son now compares this to every restaurant and it always wins.

Bourbon Chicken

This recipe is great! I've made it several times and always get compliments. I've found the best cut of meat is boneless chicken thighs and it tastes great served with rice.

Blue Cheese Herb Spread

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2010
Excellent spread! I looked at the reviews and added 1/4 cup dried cranberries for a nice tart, salty, and sweet blend. The parsely gives it a fresh taste. I can't wait to serve this tomorrow.

Spiced Mixed Nuts

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2010
Great taste and VERY easy! I read the comments by other reviewers and added an extra 1/2 of nuts. I also substituted cayenne pepper for the nutmeg to give it a kick. I will definitely make this again.

Oatmeal Chocolate Coconut Chewy

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2010
Very good! My husband loved them. I used dark chocolate chips and the flavor was a little overpowering, so I may scale back to semi-sweet or use less next time. I would definitely make the recipe again though. Be prepared for a huge batch. This made about 7 1/2 dozen for me.

Four Fruit Pie

Very nice recipe and quite easy. I didn't have raspberries, so I had to substitute dried cranberries. It worked well, too.

Whipped Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
I made this for Thanksgiving. Of the mounds of food I prepared, this was the lone dish with NO leftovers. It was completely gone! I thought it was quite good and added a little vanilla, as was suggested by some of the reviews. To cook the potatoes, I baked them for about an hour and then scooped out the skins and this worked well. My one complaint is that the orange juice came across a little strong for my taste. I used fresh squeezed and it was a bit too obvious a flavor in the mix.

Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Wonderful! After reading the reviews, I cooked the cranberries a little longer to give the sauce some extra thickness. It worked very well and was super easy. Great to make ahead!

Apple-Raisin French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
This was excellent. I made it Christmas eve night to bake for Christmas morning. It was an easy breakfast and I substituted dried cranberries for raisins to make it more seasonal. It tastes much like bread pudding and does not need any added syrup. When I served it, I spooned servings so that the apples and cranberries topped the "toast" layer. It looked lovely on the plates.

All-Day Apple Butter

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2009
This recipe is fabulous and very easy (if you use a corer/peeler to prepare the apples). I have shared it with friends and it has become a fall tradition.

Pumpkin Bars I

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2009
Excellent! I cut the recipe in half and used raisins instead of walnuts. I also frosted them while still slightly warm with canned cream cheese frosting and no one could tell the difference. Moist, delicious and so easy to make! I would absolutely make these again.

Butterscotch Bread Pudding

Reviewed: May 8, 2008
I have made this twice and it has turned out great both times. The second time, I had run out of vanilla and used maple syrup instead. I have also tried it white and wheat bread and it was great both ways.

Chocolate Pecan Pie IV

Excellent flavor! This turned out very well. I was a little concerned when I cut into the pie and the chocolate had seperated from the pie filling a bit, but the flavor was amazing and I would definitely make again.

Easy Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Very easy to make! We purchased a bbq Turkey from a local restaurant and so we did not have any drippings, but wanted gravy. Instead, I used store bought stock. After reading the comments, I decided not to add salt and the gravy was plenty salty for our taste. I also wisked the flour into cold milk and added. It thickened instantly and no lumps! The gravy has a great flavor, makes large quantities and works very well if you need gravy, but didn't cook the turkey.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2012
I have made this bread 4 times and it always turns out delicious! I have also tried it with blueberries and ran out of white sugar, so used half brown sugar, both variations were great. I bake it at a slightly higher temperature (320 degrees) for an hour and fifteen minutes, as is suggested in other reviews. One time I used Greek yogurt instead of sour cream and this turned out well, too.

President Ford's Braised Eye Round Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2009
The flavor was great and my whole family really enjoyed it. I served it with vegetable couscous and the pairing was great. Unfortunately, the beef was not particularly tender when finished. I'm not sure if this was just the cut of meat or if there was something additional I could have done. I followed the written recipe to a "T."
