Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2015
Made this just as written and it was perfect, I can see why others would say it might be dry. It was moist but not overly juicy. To reheat the leftovers I will need to add some broth. Next time I am going to make 1.5 amount of the sauce I don't think I would double it but will start with 1.5. My husband said 3 times how delicious this was. I did add 1/4 tsp poultry seasoning and anyone living in Nova Scotia I added 1 tsp Halifax spice.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2015
This recipe was very surprising! I was scepticle at first because of the melted butter, I have always heard butter should be soft but cool. They turned out wonderful, they were soft, big and not flat. I have never baked cookies at 325 degrees either, but it was fine. I started at 16 mins and ended up doing 19 mins. Ovens very so I watched them until the sides started to brown like another reviewer had mentioned. Will make again.

French Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2015
This was my first attempt at french bread and it turned out perfect! I make bread monthly, so I was happy to read other reviewers pointers and took those all into consideration. When it came to the yeast , the recipe said 2 1/2 pkgs, I didn't want to try and half that little pkg so I used it all (3 pkgs). After reading the reviews about the flour I decided to measure out all 6 cups in a separate bowl, using 2 cups to start and then with the 4 cups left over, stir in what I could and then knead in some more until consistency felt right. Like another reviewer said there was flour leftover. I let mine rise for a 1 + 1/2 hrs. This recipe did make 2 good size loaves. When my loaves cooled my end use for this was garlic bread. I got the garlic bread recipe from Brown Eyed Baker posted February 2015 Delicious!

YUMMY, this is recipe is so easy and very delicious. I was thinking that I might add half and half after it was finished, but after tasting it , no way it is perfect as it is without any dairy. I made exactly as stated it is perfect! I will make it again for sure.

The Best Meatballs

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2014
This is a delicious recipe, made exactly as stated and I doubled it for a family dinner. This is the second time I have made these. The first time I baked them on parchment paper ,lined cookie sheet , 350 for 45 mins. Then transferred to slower cooker and covered them with a marinara sauce for a potluck. These freeze perfectly for a special occasion, just thaw and put in a slower cooker with a favourite sauce. I took them to a spring potluck and my sauce was BBQ & orange marmalade, these went well with potato salad, macaroni salad etc.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2014
This was delicious! I doubled it so we could have leftovers. I made it exactly no substitutions. It was super easy to put together. I was a bit nervous about the cream cheese, thinking it would be too rich, but there was no other fat in the recipe, the golden mushroom is a low fat soup so I gave it a try. It was very smooth and creamy, I think I should have let the cream cheese come to room temperature because I had a hard time getting it all to "melt" even though I added it in pieces. Will make again.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2013
This is the best I have ever had. I just made it for the second time in two months. I made it exactly as written and did the step by step exactly. At first I thought there wasn't enough liquid but I thought with all the good reviews just trust it and it was perfect. In the past I always had too much liquid and it would bubble over. This was so delicious, my husband mentioned several times how much he enjoyed it.

Cod Fish Cakes

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2012
This was a great recipe, my husband grew up in Nova Scotia and said his mom always made cod fish cakes. When he asked me if I could try to make them I was so thankful to find this recipe. I made it exactly as written, but added 2 tsp of Old Bay Seasoning. I was not sure what type of potatoes to use, as I wanted a type that would make into a patty and stick together well, so I chose Yellow fleshed potatoes ( yukon gold ) and they were perfect ! After the first bite my husband said that it took him back a few years as they were very similar to his mothers.

Haddock Bubbly Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
This was very delicious. I took advice from other reviewers and added broccoli. I also substituted green onions instead of regular onions. I steamed the broccoli for 10 mins before adding it to the fish. Then spooned the soup over fish and broccoli, added cheddar cheese and for a nice twist topped it off with crushed Ritz crackers. Baked 350 for 30 mins. My fiancee doesn't care for fish but he really liked this and had seconds.
