About this Cook
Introduced to cooking and baking at my grandmother and great grandmere's side. They were "camp and crew cooks". often in the wilderness in logging camps. They were skilled and very patient....dough nuts, cinnamon buns....My mother introduced me to canning....and I was preparing meals when I was 12....started baking much earlier. Clean up was not my forte....I have taken a few week long courses in chocolate works in Vancouver.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake....work with chocolate (dimensional boxes filled and decorated with chocolate....Marshmallow Easter eggs....molded pieces....homemade and hand dipped chocolates..gonache....the list is endless...but you get the idea) Metis and aboriginal traditional food, Greek food, Vietnamese food, Asian food, French and most recently cooking with ancient grains...quiona...
My favorite family cooking traditions
Most cooking traditions come from Christmas.....cookies....cakes....jams and jellies...(also used for gifting) Turkey with all the trimmings....Greek salad, spanikopita..ham and egg "wife saver" for breakfast...mini quiche....many nibbles for a day of grazing.
My cooking triumphs
Dimensional chocolate sculpturing....chocolate roses...candy sculpted roses (made from gum drops)....decorated cookie wreaths...and just many fun things...
My cooking tragedies
I am sure I have ham many....but fortunately my memory is short here and long on the triumphs.
