Super Simple Sweet Potato Dog Treats

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2014
My dog loves these. I don't know if this will apply to anyone else but my dog LOVES gingerbread cookies (he doesn't get them but does steal them sometimes) so i add ginger, cinnamon, cloves and a bit of molasses to these. He goes nuts for them. but this is a fantastic recipe as is or as a base recipe to add to!

Bon Appetit's Braciole

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2012
Very tasty and very easy. I changed a few things however. I used chicken and made a home made rose sauce (personal preference) and added fresh basil to the filling. Also i only cooked in the sauce about 20 minutes. The rolls were very flavorful and looked very impressive when sliced.

Maharani Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2012
i was very hesitant to try these but am i glad i did! These cupcakes are so unique (in a good way). I made these for a summer party and I also made regular coconut cupcakes with a custard and frosting. After and hour these were gone and I had to take leftovers of the others home! I did modify the recipe for my own tastes and per other suggestions though. First of all I made a coconut cake from scratch (i never use box mix). Second, for the lemon curd I used regular curry and only put in about 1 teaspoon. That was more than enough for my taste. I would recommend starting with less and adding as you cook it if you so desire. Third, for the frosting i used a bit more cream cheese and way less sugar. I always add sugar as i go to any frosting and stop when it is sweet enough. Everyone agreed the basil frosting was the best part! I strongly recommend everyone try these, if you're scared just make a smaller batch (and then wish you'd made more)

Party Pinwheels

Reviewed: May 26, 2012
these were ok. I made them as written except for adding garlic. Overall i thought they were quite bland and nothing special. I made one roll with salami and even that didn't help.

Amazing Italian Lemon Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2012
what a delicious and easy dinner. I made the recipe as written except for using milk and less butter. the milk curdled a little but in the final sauce you couldn't tell. I added a bit of starch to thicken it up. The only caution is when tasting the sauce alone it seems way too sour but when the whole meal is combined it was great!

Beer Braised Irish Stew and Colcannon

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2012
what a great alternative to corned beef! I actually did this with chicken b/c i'm not a beef fan. It was still delicious! I followed the recipe except i did it on the stove. The colcannon was one of the best i've ever had.

Chiffon Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
WOW! This cake is amazing. I bake fairly often but cakes are not a strength of mine. This cake was so simple to prepare that i honestly thought that i forgot to do something. I used almond extract instead of lemon and i didn't have cream of tartar so i used vinegar instead. When it came out of the oven it looked perfect and it did not fall at all. The cake was so super light fluffy and the taste is great (not at all eggy). I used a cream cheese frosting, per family requests, and it was wonderful!

Thai Quivering Tenderloins

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2012
wow! I'm not a fan of pork so i made this using skinless chicken breasts other than that i made no changes. I'm a huge fan of thai food and i'm not sure that this was very authentic, but when it's this delicious who cares!

Candy'D Sweet Potato Cupcakes with Brown Sugar Icing

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2012
Excellent cupcakes. I half expected these to be more like muffin consistency but it was more like a carrot cake. The texture was definitely cake-y and very moist. The taste was great except it was a bit heavy on the orange for me so next time i'll add less zest. I added fresh cranberries to 1/2 the mix because i had some left over and i really enjoyed the tartness. Also i had to bake these quite a bit longer (but i always seem to have to increase baking time for anything with pumpkin or sweet potato). Overall a great and new dessert for us!

Cream Cheese Frosting with Brown Butter and Bourbon

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2012
this is the best frosting i've ever had. this was absolutely perfect on a carrot cake. be sure to watch the butter closely (and have extra) because it is easy to burn. Also i've made this with brandy and it is just as good.

Soul Smothered Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2012
so delicious! I was expecting this to be a bit bland but it was so full of flavor and the right amount of heat. , I'm one of those people who insists on using skinless chicken breast (also i cut the amount of butter in half) and this still turned out fantastically.

Creme Brulee French Toast

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2012
i dont understand all the great reviews. I understood before making this that it would be more like bread pudding than true french toast, which was fine. however the flavor just did not work for me. First of all there is way too much sugar, almost inedible. Also for me there were too many eggs because the egg flavor was overpowering. I'm extremely disappointed in this recipe.

No Tomato Pasta Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2012
wow this sauce is actually quite delicious. I normally hate beets but i made this for my bf who hates tomato sauce. To my surprise i really likes this sauce too. The vinegar help to cut the sweetness quite well (the sweetness is what i hate about beets). Overall this is a very good and healthy variation on pasta sauce. thank you for the recipe!

Cooky Cookies

these aren't bad but they aren't great. for my taste they are too greasy. Also i can't really taste the coconut or tell that there are corn flakes, and 12 minutes is too long to bake these.

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2011
this was an ok pie. maybe i just don't get pies like this b/c i haven't found a pumpkin pie i like either. with plenty of marshmallow frosting this was good but i still think sweet potatoes are way better in any other form. I love sweet potatoes mashed, baked or in a casserole but in pie they are at best ok.

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2011
really great! these had a really strong pumpkin flavor. I am not an avid pancake maker and these still turned out perfect. they were easy to pour and to cook evenly. they were perfectly sweetened to allow plenty of maple syrup and not get too sugary. overall a fantastic thanksgiving breakfast!!

Butterscotch Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2011
thank you! this recipe is exactly what i was looking for. I made 2 batches of cookies, these and Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdooldes and these were way better. I also made half of these with a butter/shortening mix and the texture was even better. other than that i wouldn't change a thing, the proportions and cooking times are perfect!!

while this recipe was really simple it was also pretty boring and the biggest problem was that it was way too salty.

Halibut with Zesty Peach Salsa

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2011
The fish was delicious and had a very unique and fresh taste. I made a pretty big change so i'm not sure how much my rating applies, but i think the idea remained the same. I used apples instead of peaches and apple cider instead of orange juice. Also i baked the fish with the marinade. Overall it is definitely a great alternative to all the cream and butter based sauces.
