Holiday Cherry Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2013
This is the best cherry pie I've tasted. The only problem I had with the recipe is that when I baked the empty pie shell for 10 minutes, it came out shriveled and burned. Thank goodness they came two to a pack, and the pie baked up well without pre-baking the shell.

Meatball Nirvana

These are really outstanding in flavor and texture - yum. However, they were so tender mine fell a little bit apart. Still, outstanding.

Army SOS Creamed Ground Beef

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2011
This is very similar to what an Air Force cook showed me back in 1975 when they had real enlisted cooks and not contractors who don't have a clue how to make this very traditional dish. The only difference was that she added a very small diced onion just as the beef was turning brown and didn't use bouillon. I still make this today, but I drain the beef if there is a lot of grease and add butter before adding the flour. It's yummy, and great over homemade breakfast potatoes.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2014
This recipe never fails me. It even works with the shortcut of melting the butter to cream in the sugar more easily. I do add spices and vanilla for added flavor.

Peanut Butter and Banana Dog Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2013
My dogs loved these cookies. Instead of wheat germ I used flax seed that I had on hand - it gave the dough a distinctive scent, but the pups didn't mind. I also used crunchy peanut butter and added the extra egg yolk (left over when I separated the egg white). I didn't have a fancy shape to cut them with, so I used a small round cookie cutter and then cut the rounds in half. It seems to render the perfect size for my two 20 pound mutts.

Banana Oat Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2013
Wonderful muffins! I made this pretty much as reads, except - like others - I cut the butter to 6 tbsp (instead of 8)and sugar to 3/4 cup. I didn't have any walnuts so I used chopped pecan pralines instead. They turned out moist, light and delicious.
