Pan-Fried Asparagus

Reviewed: May 22, 2004
Fantastic recipe. Made it for mother's day and my brother who said he hated asparagus ended up devouring 1/2 of the pan full! Such an easy sidedish and very flavourful - will be a regular for guests!

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2003
I hate pumpkin pie, but my husband likes it.I compromised with this on Thanksgiving and it was delicious.Almost tastes like the new pumpkin spice latte's at Starbuck's!Must be good - caught hubby eating it out of the pan for breakfast the next day.I made it with a ginger snap cookie crust - that really set it off. Will be an annual Thanksgiving dessert at my house!

Excellent recipe! Marinated for 30 minutes in Frank's hot sauce before breading. Served with low-fat ranch dip and chili con queso dip! Husband devoured plate & asked if there were anymore & wants them again tonight!I like them as they are low-fat & will be making them regularly from now on!

Cajun Style Corn Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2003
Okay soup - needs more tomato flavour though - the only real flavour coming through was the cayenne pepper and garlic. I think next time I'll add an extra can of tomato paste or make it with beef broth instead of water.

Mmmmm...no more stopping for takeout! This is great - better than the one from the local Chinese restaurant! Hubby polished off the rest of the pan at midnight!

Pesto Chicken Florentine

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2003
Quick, excellent recipe. I bought prepackaged Olivieri Lite Alfredo sauce and No name brand pesto sauce. Added some fresh onions and mushrooms while the chicken was sauteeing. Will definitely be adding to my list of things to make regularly on a work night!

Blueberry Cherry Pie

Excellent! Not too sweet at all. I doubled the recipe and made 2 pies and I had to hide a piece last night just so I could bring some to work today!

Baked Halibut Steaks

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2003
I really enjoyed it, but the disappointment on my husband's face when he realized I'd cooked the fish with vegetables instead of deep frying it was hilarious. After a bit of prodding, he tried it and liked it.

Emily's Famous Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2003
My one and only experience with sloppy joes was the awful canned stuff as a kid. My husband has been bugging for years for me to make them and since this recipe was without ketchup, I figured I'd try it! Excellent results! My husband and his brother ate the whole pan (with a small bite for me). Will definitely make again!

Buffalo Chicken Wings III

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2003
I did not care for these at all. They had too much of a buttery taste for me. My husband ate most of them but agreed that he'd had much better. Will be looking for a better recipe to use as we are both wing fans.

Made today for our superbowl lunch and my husband and his brother ate the whole platter! Used pre-made garlic bread and topped with barbeque sauce, sauteed onions & green peppers. Through back under the broiler with pepper jack cheese on top before serving. Excellent fat laden recipe for the boys!

This tastes even better than my favorite at a local restaurant! Tastes great with some garlic bread for dipping!! Will be making often. I used 1/2 fat cream of celery soup to cut down on the fat.

Favorite Old Fashioned Gingerbread

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2002
Excellent gingerbread. My brother (who works at Starbucks) and my husband both devour by the pound the Starbucks gingerbread and gave this one rave reviews. My father was excited because it smelled and tasted just like a childhood recipe from Holland called Tuf Tuf. Will be making on a regular basis!

Chocolate Rum Balls I

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2002
The best rum ball recipe I've tried yet! A little too much rum for my husband's taste, but my friend ate 10 of them in a row and was completely happy :) with the results! Will be making every year to add to the Christmas platter!
