My favorite things to cook
Southern comfort food is my specialty! I love "full-flavor" cooking- nothing "low-fat" or "sugar free"- I just use real, whole ingredients. But make sure you also have a very active hobby or two in order to keep the calories off when you live in the South!

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake
This recipe was very good; however, after reading all of the previous reviews I was expecting a slice of heaven, and it just wasn't that. I followed the recipe exactly, and find it just a little bland. I think I prefer cakes with butter vs oil to make them a little richer. Still, overall very good- my husband loves it- but adding a thick layer of icing is definitely necessary.

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style
This recipe was very good- however it wasn't as mind-blowing as I thought it would be. I was really hoping for a restaraunt replica spinach dip- and while it was good, "something" was missing. I am not quite sure what it was, but the final product was a little lacking in flavor. I followed the recipe to a T, so maybe next time I will take some other reviewers suggestions on how to kick it up a notch.

Easy French Dip Sandwiches
These sandwiches were SO tasty! They definitely filled my craving for their restaurant counterparts. To give mine a little more flavor, I added one packet of Lipton's Onion Soup Mix to the beef consomme and also thinly sliced some onions and green peppers and sauteed them in a skillet with my roast beef before placing onto my hoagie rolls. Everyone over that night loved it, and the best part was it's an affordable meal to serve for company. I paired mine with some homemade potato salad and pineapple.
