Pumpkin Curry Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2005
I was getting tired of using my leftover pumpkin puree for desserts so I decided to try this. This soup was much better than I expected it to be. I used skim milk instead of evaporated milk so it was a little thin but I liked it like that.

Whole Wheat Bread III

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2005
Perfect height with a beautiful texture. Couldn't really notice the cornmeal but there was a strong honey taste. I will make this again but probably add some flax and sunflower seeds to make it a bit more interesting.

S'mores

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2005
A campfire tradition! I've tried it with different types of chocolate (rosebuds, chocolate chips, different candy bars) but plain milk chocolate candy bars are the best.

Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2005
My favorite sandwich. But my family likes it best with either egg bread or caraway rye bread. Sometimes when we're really hungry, we make it with two slices of cheese and bacon in between.

The Original Treats™

They come out perfect everytime and even the kids can help. Look for the holiday Rice Krispies in December, the colorful squares will be a great addition to your Christmas cookie tray.

Libby's® Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2005
I used cinnamon snap cookie crumbs in place of the graham cracker crumbs and all low fat ingredients. I wouldn't recommend low fat for this cake though. The middle of my cake had a big indent in it where the sour cream topping had sunk in (and I had it spread evenly over the cake right to the edges). I guess the cake wasn't firm enough to hold the weight of the sour cream and the sour cream wasn't thick enough to spread smoothly and evenly over the cake. It was way too much topping anyway - next time I would cut that part of the recipe in half.

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2005
Tasted great and there was exactly the right amout of filling for my pie crust. I used my food processor to puree the pumpkin and also to mix the filling ingredients. The only complaint I have is that the filling browned too much and it didn't look as good as some of the other pumpkin pie recipes I've tried (even though it tasted better). Next time I'll probably cover the whole thing with foil rather than just the crust.

One Pot Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2005
I really enjoyed this fast and easy meal but my husband wasn't very impressed because he's not a fan of the tuna. I used rigatoni pasta and also added some corn.

Buttermilk Seed Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2005
Great bread. We loved all the seeds! I halved the recipe and made it in my bread machine on the dough setting. When I took it out, I continued from step 4.

Almond Rhubarb Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2005
We loved this. Cut the recipe in half to make one cake and didn't add almonds to the batter - just extra for the top. I think it was the almonds that made it so great for us.

Maple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2005
This bread had a great maple taste and a spongy texture. However, I've tried making it twice - the second time with more yeast and both times I've ended up with a short, dense loaf. I probably won't make it again.

Lemon Delight

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2005
We weren't too crazy about this. It could be because I only put a very small amount of lemon pie filling on top rather than a whole can, but the dessert was not sweet enough for me. I especially didn't like the crust because there was no sugar in it. If you don't like sweet desserts, you might like this.

Cheddar Cheese Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2005
This bread didn't rise very high but had a good flavor. I added 1 tbsp of dill seed for a little extra flavor which we really liked. I prefer cheese bread recipes in which you roll up the dough jelly roll style around the cheese. It's just cheesier tasting and looks better that way.

Whole Wheat Honey Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2005
Of all the whole wheat bread recipes on this site, this one was my least favorite. For some reason, it didn't rise very high and because of that, it didn't have the best appearance. It wasn't terrible - just not as good as others and I wouldn't make it again.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2005
I found it a little hard to mix because it was so thick and I noticed little specks of powdered sugar throughout the mixture because of that. Also, I think that next time I would use milk chocolate for a more peanut butter cup taste.

Russian Black Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2005
Excellent bread. It has a slightly bitter aftertaste which we didn't mind. I made 2 changes, 1. I used wine vinegar instead of cider vinegar and 2. I substituted 1 3/4 tsp of bread machine yeast for the regular yeast. (it rose to just the right height). The only thing I might do differently next time is add more caraway seeds because we really love them.

Puff Balls

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2005
I used a donut cutter and made donuts. They were fantastic. I used cinnamon sugar instead of confectioners' sugar and with half, I dipped them in lemon juice before coating with cinnamon sugar (I wanted them to taste like my favorite beaver tails menu item) and they were great.

Tres Leches Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2005
I would love to give this cake 5 stars because it tasted great but there were hard little chewy bits throughout the cake that were a big turnoff. Not sure what exactly they were, but I followed the cake directions exactly. I won't make this recipe again but might try buying angel food cake and covering it with the milk mixture since this cake is very similar.

Kraft's Burritos Grande

Good basic recipe. I add some salsa, tomato and black olives as well and heat it in the microwave rather than the oven for a quick meal.
