About this Cook
I am (as of this writing) a mid 40s married professional woman with no children.
My favorite things to cook
I have evolved over the years (thankfully ;-) and am now cooking healthy food. My husband and I both lost approximately 40 lbs just by moderately changing what we eat -- low fat/healthy fat, lean protein, whole grains, lots of fruit and veggies, and watched our snacking. We've eaten this way for more than 2 years now, and it has just become habit. Not that we don't indulge once in awhile ;-) Crab with melted butter to dip in; there is just no healthy replacement!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My tradition is never the same thing twice! Always new recipes, especially when we have guests. And lately the trick is finding fabulous decadent food that is actually good for you (but noone would think that, they just think its great!)

Inca Red Quinoa Salad with Sweet Apple Chicken Sausage
The mustard referred to in directions but not listed in ingredients is 4 tsp Dijon mustard. This is an excellent salad, very bright and refreshing, with healthy ingredients. If you are counting on leftovers, only add oranges to portion you are serving. I also prefer to slice sausages before browning rather than brown and slice as listed.

Slow Cooker Roast Beef
Best slow cooker roast I've ever made. Like others, used Tamari soy sauce, so it wasn't too salty. Make sure you use a CHEAP cut of meat, if you use a good cut, it will definitely turn out dry. The gravy is excellent as well. My husband and guests just loved it.
