My favorite things to cook
I've always been more of a baker. My specialties are cheesecakes, mousses, and fancy fondant cupcakes. My slow cooker is my new best friend. I love making stews and casseroles that seem like they took way more effort than they actually do.
My favorite family cooking traditions
German desserts and cookies are my biggest family traditions. My great-grandmother also had a Sunday dinner tradition with a huge ham, shrimp cocktails and finished with elaborate cupcakes.
My cooking triumphs
Chocolate cupcakes filled with white chocolate mousse. Dry NY cheesecake with oreo crust
My cooking tragedies
Ugh. The worst chicken parm ever. I still don't know what I did wrong but no one could eat it!

Mama D's Italian Bread
Easy and delicious. I followed the recipe exactly but not the baking instructions. I sprayed with water every three minutes for the first 10 minutes and then baked for an additional 25 at 425 with a bowl of water in the oven. After that I did not turn the bread or wet anymore. The bread was moist, the crust was crunchy and it was outstanding overall. As with any bread, it's time consuming. Perfect for a day at home.

Ghirardelli Chocolate Mousse
This came out fantastic. Best to have a little bit of kitchen experience before making a mousse, but still an easy accomplishment.

Chicken Pot Pie IX
I love it! Very yummy recipe. I cooked the veggies and chicken in chicken stock and added rosemary, poultry seasoning and garlic to the sauce ingredients. Based on the reviews I doubled the sauce. I also brushed both crusts with egg white, toasting the bottom for 10 minutes before assembling the pie. Came out delightful. Highly recommend. Also, if you're not so experienced with pie crusts it definitely takes more time.
