Followed most of the recipe but did add a couple of finely diced carrots, used 1 cup milk and 1 cup 1/2 & 1/2. I also added fresh thyme since my plant needed to be cut back. It was a great way to use up leftover Easter ham. I did sweat the vegetables before adding the water to continue the cooking process. This was absolutely delicious, although it is quite rich. That might be because I used 1/2 and 1/2, but sometimes a splurge is okay. With only the two of us, we had leftovers for lunch and still have a small amount left for tomorrow. I will definitely make again, especially when I have leftover ham.
