About this Cook
Just a student living abroad, had to cook in order to survive as I hate eating canteen food. But cooking is also an activity that helps me relax. Plus I get to share my food with people! Learnt to cook from my parents since I was very young, mostly watching, and lots of hands-on. My parents, especially my dad, are great teachers, given the professional training they received for their jobs in the catering and hospitality industries. I learnt proper cooking skills in middle school, when cookery was compulsory in an all-girls school :P
My favorite things to cook
Baking of any kind. I bake a lot, and I love sharing my bakings with people!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a Chinese family, but oil and MSG is definitely a huge no-no for us.
My cooking triumphs
8th Grade cookery class, I managed to finish all the food preparation much quicker than my classmates. Most girls were intimidated by touching raw meat or cutting things with a kitchen knife. Impressed my teacher enough that she always asked me to help with the demonstrations!

Roast Duck Legs With Red Wine Sauce
The wine I used was kind of dry, so I added a little bit more of the jelly/jam. Ran out of the five-spice powder, so I also substituted it with a little bit of mixed herbs. It still turned out really good. Will definitely make this again!
