Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2012
Great recipe! I made it tonight and my mom loves the recipe, along with other members of my family. The cookie dough is really good, too! If you don't have unsweetened cocoa powder use one ounce of baking chocolate, melted, and decrease the margarine by a tablespoon.

French Baguettes

I don't bother with the bread machine. Instead I follow the directions of another review and proof the sugar, water, and yeast before adding the flour and salt and kneading it. From there I follow the recipe as is, though I don't always brush the egg yolk and water mixture over the top. The bread tastes wonderful either way, and my family loves it when I make this to go with dinner.

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2012
I decided to make this one night when my mother was busy and I felt like cooking something new. Like the other reviews, I added some vegetables: chopped up carrots, green onions, a little red onion, mushrooms, celery, and two cloves of garlic, which I sauteed before putting in the soup. I also followed the advice of one review and used 2% milk instead of heavy cream, 6 tablespoons of butter, and only 1/2 cup of flour. I didn't use the seasoning packet from the rice boxes, and I'm glad I made that choice. Instead I used some basil, celery salt, lemon peel, parsley leaf, a small pinch of oregano, and possibly a little bit of dill weed, all along with the salt and black pepper the recipe calls for. When I sauteed the chicken, I added some pepper to it just to add a little flavor to the meat itself. Overall, this soup was a big hit with the family. Out of a giant pot of soup, only one serving was left over. I will definitely be making this again in the dead of winter.

Creamy Hot Cocoa

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2011
I just made this for a little pick-me up for NaNoWriMo. It's really good, but I took the advice of most reviews and decreased the sugar to 1/2 cup. I also did not add the half and half, because we don't have any and it already has a lot of milk. It still tastes great, and my Dad and little brother really liked it. I will definitely be making this again. ~Owl Girl
