Celebrating #CabernetDay

Sep. 16, 2011 4:15 pm
The stats from #CabernetDay on Twitter were pretty good – 17,000 tweets, 4,200 unique tweeters – and I wanted to do my part. Two bottles of a California Cab – Livermore Valley versus Los Gatos Mountains – competing for a chance to be paired with our Italian dinner.

Both the 2007 Regale and 2008 ConCannon were bold and flavorful, satisfying on their own – no need to be paired with food. That said, the Regale had a richness that would be delicious with the Mozarella Caprese and Chicken Parmagiana. The ConCannon was a bit fruity, however, it had a nice dry finish – something I tend to relish in a red wine. My preference, though, would be to pair it with a dish that had some spicyness.

One more sip of both – just to be sure :) – and mission accomplished! The 2007 Regale won the taste test for the #CabernetDay dinner.

Any other fun #CabernetDay events you’d like to share? Let me know – I’d love to hear them here or at http://savinghappyhour.com/2011/09/02/celebrating-cabernetday/<

Cheers!
