Step right up – summer is finally here and it’s time to embrace an ice-cold beer. For enjoying a frosted mug of ale on a hot summer day, there’s no place like the new shimmering riverfront of Oklahoma City. OKC is home to several award-winning breweries,
many of them in the trendy Bricktown neighborhood.
Here are my top must-try brews along with the perfect beer food pairing.
Tapwerks Ale House & Cafe
– Marshall IPA
– Coop F5 IPA
Enjoy with the spicy buffalo wings or with the Fuller’s London Pride battered fish & chips.
– Copperhead Amber Ale
– Ol’ Blue Berry Ale
Try either with a hearty plate of St. Louis Style ribs. The Irish Nachos are also a good choice and will melt in your mouth with flavor. (Happy hour is from 3-7pm, Mon-Fri: half-price drafts and a different $3.95 appetizer every day).
McNellies Public House
– German Franzikaner Hefeweizen
– England Young’s Double Chocolate Stout
Pair the Franzikaner with Mom’s Sweet Potato Fries & McNellie’s Charburger. For dessert, the Stout brings out the flavor in the Oatmeal Cheesecake. (June specials are Shiner Bock Light – $2, Smithwick’s – $4).
