Grandma's Apple Pie 'Ala Mode' Moonshine

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2014
Made it last night for a family campfire. Had it in a slow cooker with sugar and spices sans alcohol about 4 hrs, then served kids first, added more cider, then the alcohol (whipped cream vodka sub for vanilla vodka). It was a huge hit with all ages.

Simple BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2013
I used boneless beef ribs, cooked exactly the same way. Tender and delicious. All my picky eaters, non meat eaters loved it. I was unsure of the boiling time, so I just did 20 min after coming to a low boil.

Dad's Asian Slaw

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2012
Just made this for Christmas lunch with ham sandwiches. I did not have the seeds and nuts, so I omitted those. I used sesame oil, rice vinegar and sugar for the dressing and added the ramen noodles and scallions. I like that it is safe to leave out since there is no mayo in it and it tastes healthier.

Made it exactly like instructed except MW instead of mayo, no mayo. Very tasty and crispy, not gooey.

Hush Puppies II

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2012
I forgot to add the eggs and only had a short can of the corn. I added a little oil, milk and water to make up the added moisture needed. They were a hit!

Quick Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2011
Very good. Never cooked ribs before. I have a gas grill so I did what another reviewer did and cook in my oven at 500 for 15-20 min with the dry rub and then poured on the bbq sauce and cooked for another 15 min, turned off the oven and let them sit with the door shut until the rest of my sides were ready.

No fail cookie, yum! Uniform shape, color, cooks evenly. Will try different pudding flavors as others suggested.

Great! We served with marinara over angel hair pasta. Red pepper flakes gave it a kick.

Cuban Ropa Vieja

Reviewed: May 11, 2011
My family is very picky. I served this with black beans and leftover jasmine rice. Consensus votes this is an okay dish. I would make again and use more garlic and cumin and possibly add hot pepper (is Poblano typically used in Cuban dishes?). I really liked this dish.

Sandy's Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2011
Very good base to make to your individual taste. I used sour cream instead of soup since I had none. Used half the cheese, added celery salt, cayenne pepper, lemon zest, garlic clove and fresh basil. Added fresh green peas and topped with croutons. Baked an extra 20 minutes. Very rich, but the kids liked it. I would rate 5 stars, but I know it isn't very healthy.
