Peanut Butter Sandwich Loaf

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2003
This bread is sooo cool. Just top it off with Jam and you have a less sticky and very yummy pb & j sandwich. I used light crunchy peanut butter and it is really good. My husband thought it was really good too. next time I might try it with bananas and have peanut butter and banana sandwich loaf. Thanks! Anna

Baked Ziti IV

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2003
This was awesome! It made a lot of leftovers for my husband and my brother in law came over (and he hates pasta) and he was drooling over it. The sour cream added a nice flavour. I used Classico Red wine and fine herbs sauce, added mushrooms, and used rigatoni. I will definitely make this again. I also used the pre-shredded italian cheeses mix from Kraft. Can't wait to eat the leftovers! Thanks! A.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2003
Everything was cooked thoroughly and the gravy turned out thick after I thickened it, but it was very bland. It was missing something, I'm not sure what. I think it I amde it next time i would add some HP sauce and maybe some tomato sauce, just to liven it up. Good base though. A.

Mild Cheesy Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2003
These came out pretty good, but they were, kind of time consuming and they do not cook well with lactose free cheese. We have lots of leftovers and they are very filling. I would make them again but I would use real cheese. I used medium salsa instead of tomatoes and that came out really nice. I'm glad I tried it. A.

Southwestern Dough Gods

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2003
Not sure if I made these right, but they came out ok. I had to add more milk, because the peppers and corn weren't mixing in. Then is was too sticky, so I had to add more flour. I used lactose free milk and cheese and they still tasted pretty good. My husband really likes them and suggested they need bits of cooked bacon and some tomato sauce. I would probably make these again, as they are a pretty easy biscuit recipe. Maybe, I was supposed to add spicy peppers. A.

Hot Sausage Links and Beans Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2003
This was great! I thought it sounded kind of gross and didn't look pretty but it was delicious! I used a can of precooked potatoes, bratwurst and I had to use a combo of monterey jack and mozzarella and it was really yummy. The only thing that I would change is a little less brown sugar, because the baked beans I had were brown sugar based and it was a little too sweet for my husband. I will definitely make this again. Such a comfort food! And i have leftovers for lunch.

Angel Hair Pasta Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2003
This was delicious. I didn't use the carrots, but tossed in red and green pepper and mushrooms. I also used a little bit more broth than asked for but the flavours really mixed well together. I used minced garlic and instead of angel hair pasta I used spaghettini. It smells divine when cooking and tastes even better. I have been looking for a pasta sauce that is herb and broth based and this is PERFECT! Thanks A.

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2002
This was really yummy. I had a can of mixed beans so I used that and also threw in chick peas. I added a can of mushrooms too. I really like the flavour and even with a can of chiles it didn't get to spicy. I have tons of leftovers and it really seems to thicken up the next day. Served it with "homesteader cornbread" from this website. The only thing is that it didn't seem to agree with us as we both were up most of the night. I would probably make this for a group event. Very easy.

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2002
This cornbread is great! My husband doesn't like cornbread because it always seems gritty and heavy. This bread was perfect, a nice light corn taste, not to sweet and very light and moist. I can't wait to eat my lunch (Yay! leftovers). Perfect with the slow cooker taco soup on the website.

Pork Chop Casserole III

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2002
I liked it, husband didn't, next time I will use less liquid, it turned out really wet and gloppy, later, it was like risotto, but I think with less liquid it would be better. I didn't put in the peppers and onion, but put in frozen green beans and carrots. I would try to sneak it into rotation again. The rice tasted really good. A.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2002
This recipe is perfect.I made the full recipe but I seperated in half and made the 2nd off on the 2dn day. I used my pizza stone and prebaked the crust for about 10 mins. at 325. then I put the toppings on. The crust needs a little something so i brushed it the second day with an mixture of olive oil and garlic powder. It rises amazing! and it tastes like real pizza crust. My husband loved it and I think from now on I will make my own dough because it is sooo easy and much cheaper than buying the frozen ones. I can't wait to make it again! Thanks JAY! Anna

Chicago Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2002
This recipe was awesome! I added a small container of light cream cheese and halved the mayo and sour cream. I also added some chopped water chestnuts. I only tried a little bit beofre I took it to a party but I wanted to grab a big spoon at attack. It was a huge hit at the party, people wanted to know where I bought it and they were amazed when i said I made it. There were no leftovers and it was a party of girls only. Thanks for a great recipe. A.

Unbelievable Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2002
These came out awesome. I had to add a little flour to make sure they weren't to sticky but and I would definitley cook them for less time (my ovencooks really hot, so the bottom crust got burned, but no matter, cut them off and ate them anyways). They were terrific fresh out of the oven, but even better the second day as a sandwich. They came out light and fluffy (but not crumbly)and with a great flavour. My husband loved them and I will definitely make these again and I can wait to try them as a loaf. Thanks for the great recipe. A.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2002
This was awesome, my husband and I don't like the cinnamon in the packaged stuff, so this was great! I screwed up and used mustard powder, so then I added a squirt of prepared mustard and some regular barbecue sauce and it was AMAZING! My husband thought it was ok, but he hates anything sloppy. I will make this again. I also added mushrooms. Can't wait to eat the leftovers. A.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2002
This was truly awesome! I browned the meat before putting it in the slow cooker and I used 1 can of soup, 1 can of water and mixed in a beef bouillon cube instead of the broth. I added potatoes, mushrooms, onions and carrots and then walked away. I added more carrots an hour before it was done and they cooked up nice too. I tried to thicken the broth but it didn't work so I used it for awesome beef barley soup with the leftover meat. When my husband took it out of the crockpot he asked if it was supposed to fall apart. It was so tender that you only needed a fork to eat it and the juice was delicious. We bought another roast the next day so we could make it again. Thanks!!!!

Quick Yeast Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2002
This was the first time for me to try the daunting task of cooking with yeast and I couldn't have tried a better recipe! These came out AMAZING! It was even more amazing considering my oven was on the fritz and I had to bake them in the toaster oven. I also put them in a pan and they became awesome tear apart buns. My husband loved these! He ate most of them and then while I was relaxing two days later he says " I think you should make more of those buns". I will definitely add more flour next time (dough was a little too sticky)and I guess I too will have to double the recipe! Thanks!
