Sugar Cookie Icing
About this Cook
I love to cook, bake, and entertain. When I have a dinner party or family gathering, I love to plan the menu and decorations in advance; it's fun for me! My Mom was a great cook... nothing fancy, just basic and simple good cooking. Hubby cooks very little, but he does man a great BBQ!
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy baking cookies, cakes and pies; I also love trying new recipes on the family.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We love the traditional turkey dinner at Thanksgiving and Christmas, using my late mother's dressing recipe. Every Christmas morning, we have Pillsbury Cinnamon rolls! (I know, I know... I should make them from scratch from a recipe here!! LOL!)
My cooking triumphs
My greatest joy in the kitchen is giving thanks to The Lord for His provision, and making something delicious out of what I have to work with. When my family thanks me with a kiss on the cheek, I know dinner was yummy. This site has provided a lot of good recipes, and been the reason for some of those kisses. *smile*
My cooking tragedies
The first year my husband and I were together I made a turkey dinner using a 'utility grade' turkey... man, I think that thing had 3 drumsticks. It was nuclear waste! But he ate it, bless him.

Yummy Applesauce Bread
I was concerned because there was no egg! Most quick bread loaves have an egg, so I added one. I also bumped up the spices and cut the brown sugar to 1 scant cup. The applesauce was sweet enough. This was delicious, rose high, and sliced beautifully.

Lemonade
Rave reviews. I dissolved the sugar in a little boiling water first, then added it to the total amount of water. As another reviewer said, just taste it and adjust to your liking! It's not brain surgery. I also made ice cubes from the lemonade the day before, and added them so it wouldn't get watered down. *UPDATE* We had some left over and tasted it the next day; it's true, the sliced lemons make it very strong, almost bitter. If you garnish with pretty lemon slices, be sure to add them just before serving, and remove them if you have leftovers.

Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breasts
I'm giving this 5 stars for flavour and ease. The change I made was to not use mayo, but creamy Caesar dressing. It was very tasty. I also pre-cooked the bacon in the microwave for about 4 minutes first. At the end, I turned the oven to broil, just to crisp it all up. We enjoyed it.
