English Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2013
I made these exactly according to the recipe, and they came out very good. They aren't quite like the store stuff, but they are good. :)

Waffles I

This always comes out perfectly. I add more vanilla than the recipe calls for though.

Brazilian Black Bean Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2012
I used Mexican chorizo... and it was spicy!!! So be careful of the type of chorizo you use. While this was really tasty, it overpowered the stew. I also forgot the cilantro which would have been amazing. :( This is a fabulous recipe and I can't wait to make it again!!!!!

Layered Pasta, Veggie and Cheese Skillet

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2012
We had an abundance of arugula from my husbands work so I was looking for recipes that used a good amount of of it. I was hugely disappointed by the outcome of this recipe because it turned out REALLY bland. BUT, I think this is a great base for a great dish. The next time I plan to eliminate the water like one of the other reviews suggested. I also plan to add a layer of mozzarella as well. I also plan to add fresh chopped tomatoes and bell pepper, tomato paste and a small can of tomato sauce to the the sauce. I might add some spicy italian sausage to the dish as well. I will definitely be adding salt to it as well. :) I will add to the review when I have tried these additions!!!

Cocoa Banana Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2012
I didn't go by all of the recipe directions. I tried to use less dishes and poured the plain banana batter in first and add the cocoa batter after, which worked okay and tastes great, but I wish I had put the cocoa batter in first as it is a LOT thicker and would be easier to spread the plain batter on top of it... and it's not thin enough to drizzle. I am thinking of adding oatmeal to the recipe next time between the cocoa layer and plain layer... I will add in a 2nd review when I try that!!! Otherwise, I say try it!!!

Jennifer's Granola

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
I cute this recipe in half because I don't use that much granola. Also substituted a LOT of things. I used 1 cup of oats, and then 1/2 cup of rolled quinoa, 1/2 kiwicha, and instead of the flax seed, I used lin seed, instead of sunflower seeds I used sesame flour (which is more like a masa than a flour), instead of almonds I used peanuts, instead of brown sugar I used organic sugar plus a bit of sugar cane syrup. I made more of the honey/water liquid than what this calls for to add to the sweetness and to make this clump up better. I think the baking works best if you spread the mix on a baking sheet very thinly (packed tightly) and bake it for 20 minutes, but be sure to watch it and make sure it's not burning. It will clump better if you pack it in a thin layer. Otherwise it doesn't stick together. The ratio of dry ingredients to wet is perfect. I love the recipe.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
I used banans from the jungle which taste a little more fruity in general, and are orangish in color... they weren't perfectly ripe, so I threw them in the blender and they were perfect for the bread. This bread was awesome and was gone in a couple of days!

Tangy Glazed Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
I used my own applesauce instead of jelly, and added pineapple juice instead of orange juice. It was okay, but I think it needed lots more salt and could have used some other spicing. I thought it was bland overall. I think it's a good base, but it need a creative touch with spiced for sure.

Applesauce Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
This was a good recipe, but mine looked a lot more dense than the picture. I made my own applesauce for the recipe (granny smith apples) which made the sauce more tart which I like. Also, I cut the icing recipe in half and just drizzled it on top of the bars an hour before serving. It was the perfect sweetness. This was a hit at a church meeting!

Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
This was a pretty easy recipe, but I felt like the corn dogs became very greasy... maybe I just didn't cook them right. They are corn dogs and they're bound to be greasy when they are cooked in oil. All in all, the recipe was pretty good.

Basic Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2011
This frosting was really yummy! I only used 3 cups of the sugar as per the other reviews, I thought it was still too sweet, I would probably make it with only 2 cups next time. This recipe is simple, and extremely tasty!!! Definitely a keeper.

Best Cream Of Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: May 11, 2011
I had to use chicken bullion in water instead of broth for this recipe, and it was still fabulous. I added some thyme in at the end. This soup is creamy and tasty without being too rich. My family loved it... and we ate it with french bread. Yum! I will make this again!

Easy Biscuits

Reviewed: May 7, 2011
My biscuits did NOT turn out well... but I suspect that my baking powder was too old. The flavor of the biscuits was good, but they didn't rise at all, so they were really dense. I'll try it again with new baking powder and see if I have a different result.

Chicken on a Stick

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2011
This was fantastic! I threw in about 5 cloves of crushed garlic into the marinade with the chicken. I also sautéd large chunks of onion before adding them to the skewers along with chunks of pineapple, bell pepper, and of course the chicken. I don't have access to a grill so I used the broiler setting in my oven, and used the pans that come with ovens and that served as my "grill." This was a great recipe! I will use it again!

Overnight Cinnamon Rolls I

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2011
This recipe was good. The dough turned out great. Nice and fluffy and not too sweet. But I felt like it needed more filling. I made less glaze, and I think that was a mistake!!! I should have made the full amount. I don't think it's necessary to let the dough sit for 30 minutes. I popped mine in the oven immediately and they were great. I will definitely be making this again. I will try buttering the dough and lightly dusting it with flour before putting the filling on the dough. Better recipe with some slight changes to the recipe.
