i like to add knorr tomato boullion, garlic, and pigs feet to mine. the longer you cook the better. good basic recipe. really good comfort food on cold drizzly nights and even better for hangovers so i'm told!

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake VII

Reviewed: May 9, 2011
i definately use cast iron, and sub pineapple juice for the water. there is too much batter for my 11 inch skillet so i put the rest of the cake mix in a bread pan and have an extra cake. beautiful and delicious!

Homemade Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
yes they are better than store bought. i made as directed, but cut recipe to 1/4 for 2 of us. no sense running to the store to buy stale ones when you can have the best fresh ones so easily! i like to spread butter on mine and eat with a piece of cheese.

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2011
PEANUT ALLERGY. ok my neighbor is allergic to peanuts, so i used cashew butter instead. OMG!! she is sleeping now so i can't give them to her until tomorrow and i have got to get these out of the house before i eat them all. wow, YUMMY! i did add a teaspoon of vanilla, used butter and veg oil and subbed 1/2 cup of flour for almond meal. i also added a pinch of cayenne pepper, because that's what i do. absolutely the best i have ever made and taste just like peanut butter cookies.

French Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2010
i make this all the time and it always turns out perfect. i do add a little olive oil, and dough enhancer or gluten. sometimes i'll add herbs, often not. the ice cube suggestion is good and it works. i just dread store bought bread so this is a keeper. making a batch now to go with leftover beef stew.

Dill Pickles

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2009
i have made 3 batches so far. i have sampled 2, and my goodness.....i am proud of myself! i have never made pickles. this year i have them coming out my ears, these are better than store bought. i have tweeked each batch with more or less garlic, hot pepper. YOU CANNOT GO WRONG WITH THIS BABY. i do soak the cukes in ice water, and do the hot bath. now i'm doing them for the second year. i gave away numerous jars of these and everybody loves them. my kids eat a whole jar in 2 days!

i have to hide this from my boyfriend or the kids won't get any when they come visit! i use a dehydrator overnight and it's perfect! i also add some of JIM GOODE'S BBQ RUB to it as it makes my ribs sooo tender! don't skimp on the pineapple juice, the enzymes help to break down the meat. SOOO GOOD!

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
MMMMMMMM!! really good recipe. i did add some meat rub and worcestershire to it. let it sit in fridge for an hour or so before cooking. recipe doesn't say to cover or not, i cover it with foil, then take off foil and bake for another 15 minutes. put a couple slices of bread at the bottom of the pan to soak up the grease. yummy!!

Foolproof Rib Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
okay i used the recipe for garlic prime rib, but utilized this method of cooking. DON'T BE AFRAID!! i used a tablespoon of olive oil, some beef baste, pepper and minced garlic. scored the fat and rubbed it all in, let it set for half hour or so. it was all i could do to keep from opening the oven, but due to other reviews i did not. i had some picky eaters for christmas, and nobody complained, only the inlaw who wanted his piece cooked a little longer. it was nice and pink, yum! i strained out the garlic pieces and made gravy with the drippings. i did add water when i turned the oven on the second time. trust me, it turned out wonderful!! i was skeptical, beings i cannot afford to throw food away.
