My favorite family cooking traditions
We normally have large family dinners for Easter, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. All of the 'good cooks' are in charge of making their specialty dishes. I'm normally the dessert or potato salad person.
My cooking triumphs
Two summers ago, I managed to cook a huge dinner for ten people made completely from scratch in less than three hours. Everyone enjoyed it and not one morsel was left at the end of the meal.
My cooking tragedies
In college, I was persuaded to help my friend with a dinner party. Rather than 'helping', I ended up being stuck in the kitchen alone to do all of the work. I even burned my right hand in the process (it was rather difficult trying to batter and fry chicken with only one hand)! To make matters worse, when everyone began raving over how good the food was, she took the credit for the cooking! Needless to say, I never helped her with another dinner again.
