My favorite family cooking traditions
We normally have large family dinners for Easter, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. All of the 'good cooks' are in charge of making their specialty dishes. I'm normally the dessert or potato salad person.
My cooking triumphs
Two summers ago, I managed to cook a huge dinner for ten people made completely from scratch in less than three hours. Everyone enjoyed it and not one morsel was left at the end of the meal.
My cooking tragedies
In college, I was persuaded to help my friend with a dinner party. Rather than 'helping', I ended up being stuck in the kitchen alone to do all of the work. I even burned my right hand in the process (it was rather difficult trying to batter and fry chicken with only one hand)! To make matters worse, when everyone began raving over how good the food was, she took the credit for the cooking! Needless to say, I never helped her with another dinner again.

Key Lime Cake III
I was looking for a recipe to make a key lime cake from scratch but could only find cake mix recipes. Nonetheless, this turned out pretty well. As other users suggested, I used 5 eggs instead of 4, reduced the oil to 3/4 cups, and I substituted concentrated key lime juice for the orange juice with a little lime zest added. I also paired the cake with the Cream Cheese Frosting II recipe from this site with walnuts mixed in. Overall, everyone loved it! Next time, I will probably try this recipe with white cake mix as the lemon flavor was somewhat dominant.

Banana Pudding IV
I've been cooking for many years, but for some reason, this was my first time ever making banana pudding. This recipe was absolutely great and really easy. I made it for Mother's Day and both my mom and grandmother (the biggest food critics ever) were extremely pleased. If you can forget about the calories, this makes the perfect dessert! :-)

Fish Tacos
Since the nearby restaurant that originally got me hooked on fish tacos changed its recipe, this is the next best thing! However, as a shortcut, I used frozen beer-battered fish filets. I plan to use fresh fish next time.
