About this Cook
I am 43 years old. I was born in Southern California. Was raised by Italian grandparnets. At 14 years old I was sent to live with my parents. who moved around alot. I have lived in TX, GA, AZ and now in Birmingham, AL. Out of all the places I have lived I loved Tucson AZ. The Southwest.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook all sorts of things. I can cook anything. But I love to cook grilled chicken or fish and veggies. and Indian food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up with Italian grandparents. My grandma mostly cooked old world, pheasant style Italian food. We never ate store bought bread, she made it from scrach every week. My brother and i would help her knead the dough. So I tend to take after her.
My cooking triumphs
Any thing i make that comes out wonderful.
My cooking tragedies
Apple butter. I tried to cook apple butter in a cast iron pot once. Did not realize that the acid from the apples would turn the Apple butter black with a metal taste. Wasted a half of a bushel of apples.

Apple Pie Filling
Since I had just bought a 1/2 bushel of fresh Granny Smith apples from the orchards up in N. Georgia Mountains. I followed the advice of a couple of different ladies, because of the juice in the fresh apples. I reduced the water to only 5 cups and went with 24 cups of sliced apples and decreased the amount of cornstarch by 1/3 cup. I have to say that was BRILLIANT. It came out perfect. I used 3 tsp. of Apple Pie Seasonings, and 1/2 brown sugar, 1/2 reg. sugar. Wonderful

Mom's Zucchini Bread
Was very good. Very light and moist, not heavy and dense, very good flavor. Followed the directions, without taking out or adding in or any substitutions.
